A great start to the tackle season yesterday! Our teams went 4-1 across 3/4 and 5/6. Many great plays and fun memories made! Post some photos and videos from your games so we can share our TK pride!!!

Our tackle season kicks off tomorrow morning! All three 5th/6th grade teams open at home at Bob White Stadium. Come on out and cheer on the future Trojans!

UPDATE: Thank You to those who have signed up for a shift to help with this Saturday’s concessions. We are still in need of 3 people for the last shift to cover the 12p game. If we do not get volunteers we will be at risk of not offering our fans concessions during that game. If you are able to help, we know families would appreciate it! Thank you again!

What a great Youth Night at the varsity game last night!!! It was tremendous to see so many of our 217 Tackle & Flag Football athletes rocking their jerseys, and big thanks to our volunteer coaches for keeping things organized and fun. Congrats to the varsity players on an exciting victory!

We are excited to celebrate Youth Night with TK Football tomorrow (9/3) when TK hosts Hamilton. Please review the plan below so the evening runs smoothly.

What families need to know:

Tickets - Parents and guardians must purchase tickets per the high school’s policy. Coaches and student athletes enter at no cost when walking in together with their team and coach.

Arrival - Please plan to arrive by 6:30PM and meet your team and coach on the grass near the grey shed outside of the entrance gate to the stadium to get organized.

Seating - After the TK varsity team takes the field, our youth athletes will head to the bleachers. Parents, please get your child from their coach, especially our younger athletes. Coaches, take any players who haven't connected with their families yet to the bleachers for pickup. Players are welcome to sit together in the bleachers once parents connect and set up a plan with their child.

Attire - Wear your team jersey and dress for the weather. There could be rain tomorrow.

Coach checklist:

Meeting Spot - Use the grass area by the grey shed at the stadium entrance for team staging.

Game Entry - Walk in together with your team at the designated time to ensure free entry for coaches and players.

Timeline - The youth teams will line the ramp for the varsity team entrance after Hamilton has exited the ramp. Please do not line the ramp until after the visiting team has gone to the field. Athletes should line up on the grass on both sides of the ramp, not on the ramp itself.

Supervision - Keep teams together while lining the ramp and then es**rt athletes to the bleachers.

PCT - NO HECKLING OR BOOING! Show respect to our opponents and save all your energy to cheer on the TROJANS!!!

PRACTICE UPDATE: 1st/2nd Grade Flag Football is CANCELLED for tonight. 3rd/4th and 5th/6th Flag are welcome to practice, Coach's discretion on whether to run practice fully or shorten it. MYA requests water breaks every 10 min to ensure hydration.

Tackle Football will keep their scheduled practice time.

MYA observes MHSAA policy when it comes to Heat Index. A temp over 100 degrees in the "feels like" would trigger a cancellation. Forecasts put us somewhere in the mid 90's tonight so practice is still within our weather policy. Coaches will check temperatures prior to practice beginning.

Please send all athletes tonight with more water than they would usually bring to practice so we can keep all kids hydrated and safe!

Heat Index information! MYA Football Families:

We have a forecasted Heat Index in the mid to high 90's for our Tackle practice time today and Tackle/Flag tomorrow. MYA follows MHSAA guidelines when it comes to practices or competitions with high heat. With the index not expected to go over 100 degrees we will continue to practice.

Coaches will be instructing athletes to take more water breaks. We will also remove pads and/or helmets when appropriate. If you athlete is someone who "isn't thirsty" sometimes at practice, please ask them to drink water anyways during designated breaks. Also encourage your athletes to ask a coach if they can have water if they feel they need it.

It is advised to send athletes with more water than you typically would. Large jugs or second water bottles would be ideal.

Please also stay aware with family members attending practice, like small children or elderly folks. Stay hydrated and find the shade where possible.

Scrimmage Saturday is almost here! CASH ONLY for concessions tomorrow as we get calibrated with the new software from the school for card payments. Scrimmages start at 9:30 AM, let's have a great day cheering on our 3rd/4th and 5th/6th athletes and welcome our neighbors from Wayland as we all prepare for the season.
