For a lot of families, youth sports is full of intricate drills, intense trainers, and hacks to get better at their sport. But I want to offer a simple phrase that will help more than any fancy training session ever will: The boring stuff makes you better. When kids learn to value fundamentals, effort, and consistency over flash, they get better. A lot better. The best athletes aren’t great because of gimmicks. They’re great because the basics come so easy to them. That’s how kids gain the freedom to do the extras.
