Two of my best students.

Training the boys has offered some critical insight about the human capacity for learning. It has drastically affected how I as an instructor approach students.

We (humans) have a problem with technology leveraging our egos for sales. Don’t be fooled. Everyone can absorb 100 hours on YouTube of algorithm bias information and talk the talk. About 1% can actually sort said data and make use of it. People are going out of there way to gaslight themselves these days. Working with a “clean canvas” (the boys) has given me a baseline of how easy real learning really is.

A couple of key elements of learning/training that we focus on:

1. Clarity of goals and immediate feedback

2. A high level of concentration on a limited field

3. Balance between skills and challenge

This should produce:

A. The feeling of control

B. The feeling of effortlessness

C. An altered perception of time

D. A blending of action and consciousness

E. A autotelic quality of experiences (flow). Greek autos=self & telos=goal. Basically not only the goal but the experience should be fulfilling.

Coincidentally. These are the 8 elements of flow. A state of mind that produces superhuman performance. Also, a state of transient hypofrontality in neuroscience. Basically turns off the ego part of the brain and rewards in both process and goal thus compounding…..

“Fatpants” made Master Class in just under 6 months at 14 years old!

We had a great weekend with Way of the Gun Frank Proctor. I have kept tabs on him for years because of his long standing existence as a “Hybrid” shooter. It was nice to finally shoot with him. Thankfully, Frank’s kung-fu aligns with what and how we do things. His class was very reinforcing of the “ramblings” you guys hear from me. I appreciate the trust that was displayed by the customers who I “invited” to attend.

Frank is a unique archetype of “gun guy”. Yes, his credentials are extensive and substantial (U.S Army Green Beret/USPSA Grandmaster). However, watching him teach this weekend was like watching a bird dog work a field. Noiseless and reposeful. It’s an unmistakable signature. IYKYK…

It’s always been and always will be data driven from behind the sights with us. Our focus at Gritty is experience/performace centric. We want your gun journey to be lifelong and skill progressive. Not just a consumeristic hobby.

Solid local match reps Linden Sportsmen Club - IDPA. That should be about 5k rounds on the BERETTA 92GTS.

Things i like about it.

100% reliable

Timeless Aesthetics

Unique recoil characteristic

Frame mounted decocker is the future of this platform.

Trigger is a huge leap compared to the old 92’s. Very modern geometry. Good double smoothness and the single is 8\10 crisp.

Dislikes.

I have replaced the locking block and that seemed to clear up the accuracy to a factory level with factory ammo.

Barrel is very “open” so velocity is 60-80 FPS under both a g19 that’s magnaorted and a compact M&P 2.0 both being 4 inch guns. The GTS is a 4.7 inch barrel.

Mag springs are ridiculously extra power. The average gun owner will have issues loading these to full capacity.

At 5k rounds the frame is showing some deformation in the locking block area. It would not allow the gun to be disassembled. The guide rod channel was deforming on the front not allowing the Wilson combat guide rod to slide out. The stock polymer guide rod would not have this issue. It’s worth noting as an idosycratic issue with that particular guide rod and the platform. I have installed a shock-buff to help slow down the peening.

Trigger overtravel is non-existent. Shooting at speed with no overtravel typically results in the 2nd round diving. It also can lead to some accuracy issues which I have experience.

Overall I would give the gun a 7/10 in its stock form. If you want a 92 for the collection it’s a reliable/safe option.

I’m waiting on a Jarvis barrel to arrive. As of now i plan on shooting mabey 1-2 more majors running the 92GTS to further comfirm my issues with it.

Lastly. Double/single guns are not that hard to get used to. It’s as big of a deal as you make it.
