We are so excited to bring back one of our favorite holiday traditions! Our Christmas mini sessions are officially booked, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone out to the farm for some sweet family memories.

We did have one family need to cancel, which means we have ONE spot available at 4:40 PM!

📸 Saturday, November 7th
🎄 4:40–4:55 PM — Available!
❤️ $175 per family

Sessions are 15 minutes and include a mix of family photos around the farm, with the option to include one of our horses if you’d like!

I’ve included a few favorites from past years so you can get an idea of what to expect. These always turn out so sweet and make wonderful Christmas cards and keepsakes!

🐴 🍂 November at Cole Acres! 🍂 🐴

Our November calendar is here! It’s a little wonky this month with holidays, camps, and some schedule adjustments, so please take a moment to look it over!

A couple of important reminders:

💌 November tuition is due no later than November 1st! I’ll be sending invoices out today. Please reach out if you have any questions about your total or scheduled lessons.

⏰ Afternoon lesson times have shifted slightly (15 mins earlier for all!) With the upcoming time change and earlier sunsets, we’re moving our afternoon lessons to 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM for the winter months. Our second lesson is already taking place entirely in the dark, so we’re trying to get a little more daylight where we can! If the shift is a challenge for your family, please let me know and I’ll see what adjustments can be made!

As always, thank you all for being so flexible and understanding as we navigate a busy season! I’m looking forward to another wonderful month at the barn! 🤎🐴

These two have my heart!

Pride asks a lot of her riders (soft hands, a quiet seat, and you must be CLEAR) , but this sweet girl has never once gotten frustrated- she has risen to the occasion and been a WONDERFUL leader for Pride over the last few weeks working together. Watching the trust and friendship they’ve built together has been so special. She’s become one of Pride-y girl’s favorite people, and I think it’s pretty clear the feeling is mutual.

🎃🐴 Halloween Camp was one for the books!

I have to give a special shoutout to this sweet group of kiddos! We are always lucky to have wonderful kids at Cole Acres, but today’s crew was an especially horse-loving bunch.

These kids wanted to be involved in EVERYTHING! Not just the fun stuff, either. They were eager to jump in, help with chores, feed the horses, and get their hands dirty. The kind of kids who are just as excited about caring for the horses as they are about riding them. As an instructor, there is something so refreshing about seeing that genuine love for the animals and all that comes with them!

We packed our day full of riding, trick-or-treating with our horses (and sneaking in some leading practice 😉), ghost collages, cookie decorating, and plenty of barn time!

Days like today remind me why I love what I do. Thank you to our wonderful camp families for sharing your horse-loving kiddos with us!

📣 One more thing! Tomorrow I’ll be releasing our remaining 2026 day camp dates AND drop-in lesson opportunities! Keep an eye on our page for some fun ways to spend time at the barn before the year wraps up! 🐴

10/19/2026

I’ve seen some conversation circulating in the horse world lately about falling off, and it’s brought up something I’ve felt pretty strongly about for years.

There was a culture in the horse world when I was growing up that almost glorified falling off. It was a rite of passage. You weren’t a real rider until you’d hit the dirt a few times. Getting bucked off, getting back on, pushing through fear… those were the things that supposedly made you tough.

And while I certainly believe there’s value in learning resilience, I think we’ve sometimes confused building brave riders with unnecessarily putting them in situations that require bravery.

People are trusting us with their children.

I think about that responsibility all the time.

On Friday morning, I went out to catch my oldest lesson horse. This is a horse who has spent years being an absolute saint for countless children. And yet, there he was, bucking and farting his way across the pasture like a three-year-old. When I brought him in, he spooked at the tie post. Something he has done almost never.

Could I have saddled him up anyway? Probably. Could I have told my student that this was an opportunity to face her fears, be brave, and earn her stripes?

Sure.

But why?

Why would I knowingly put someone’s child on a horse who was very clearly telling me he wasn’t quite himself that morning?

We switched gears. We spent the hour on the ground. We worked on other skills, learned some things, and she left the barn having had a wonderful lesson.

No one got hurt. No one’s confidence was shattered. And I don’t believe she missed out on a single thing that would have made her a better horsewoman.

In fact, I’d argue she learned something incredibly valuable that morning: Good horsemanship means listening to your horse, even when it means changing your plans.

I think there’s an important distinction to make here.

There are riders with competitive aspirations who will eventually need to navigate greater challenges and calculated risks as they advance. That’s part of the sport, and those risks deserve thoughtful preparation.

But what about the little girl who comes to the barn once a week because she just loves horses? Who spends the entire car ride talking about which horse she hopes she’ll get to ride? Who counts down the days until her next lesson?

What exactly are we trying to prove by pushing her beyond what she’s ready for?

Not every child who walks into a riding program is training to be a competitive equestrian. Some are simply finding a place where they feel happy, capable, confident, and connected to an animal they adore.

And that is enough.

Of course, horses are horses. They’re large prey animals with minds of their own. Accidents happen, even with the most thoughtful instruction and the quietest horses. No instructor can eliminate every risk, and falling is an unfortunate reality of riding.

But I strongly reject the idea that frequent falls should be expected, much less celebrated as evidence of good instruction.

I don’t measure my success as an instructor by how many times a child has fallen and gotten back on.

I measure it by the confidence they develop. The trust they build. The way a timid little voice eventually becomes a confident one. The way they learn to advocate for themselves and listen to their horse.

We can teach children to be brave without being reckless with their safety.

And perhaps most importantly, we can teach them that being a good horseperson doesn’t always mean pushing through.

Sometimes it means recognizing that today isn’t the day.

Sometimes it means getting off.

Sometimes it means never getting on in the first place.

And I think that’s a lesson worth teaching, too. ❤️ 🐴

🍂 November at Cole Acres Farm! 🐴🧡

Our November lesson calendar is here! As we head into the holiday season, we’re looking forward to another wonderful month at the farm!

A little heads-up: November and December will look a bit spottier than usual! Between holiday festivities, school breaks, and a spouse who will be traveling more for work, Miss Molly will be juggling a little extra mom-duty over the next couple of months! Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we balance family time with keeping our riders in the saddle!

A few important reminders:

🍁 November tuition is due November 1st! Please review the calendar carefully and calculate tuition based on your rider’s scheduled lessons at $60 per lesson.

🦃 Thanksgiving Break: We’ll have some changes to our regular schedule this month, so please double-check your lesson dates!

🐴 Fall Day Camps: Our November camps are FULL! December camp dates and additional weekend lesson opportunities will be announced soon!

📸 Fall Family Photos: We’re excited to welcome families to the farm on November 7th!

As always, thank you for being part of our little farm family! I’m so grateful for your continued support, flexibility, and the opportunity to share my love of horses with your kiddos. 🤎🍁

These are a great opportunity for kiddos who love horses but can’t quite make our regular semester lesson schedule work. Whether you’re a familiar face at the farm or hoping to join us for the first time, everyone is welcome! 🤎

No ongoing commitment needed—just come enjoy some time in the saddle!

Take a peek at our available dates and times below. To reserve a spot, simply message Miss Molly or the Cole Acres Farm page.
