SOME BENEFITS OF WATER…

Everyone knows that drinking water is important. Water plays a key role in nearly every function in your body. It helps regulate body temperature, transports nutrients, helps keep joints healthy, aids digestion and helps remove waste.

Moreover, water keeps you hydrated and helps balance electrolytes in your body, both of which are important for your fluid balance, muscle and nerve function, exercising and much more. 🫙

WALKING…

Walking is easy. It does not require any equipment, only good walking shoes. A quote from Dr. David Agnes. “Our bodies were designed to move” so let’s keep walking and moving.
I hope this short true and false quiz will change some minds. You should start with just 10 minutes a day before walking with your walking group. Then increase the time incrementally. And maybe with your walking partners you could suggest a cup of coffee after the walk. Stay well and spread the gift of kindness… 🚶🏻‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏽‍♂️

This is based on the concept of moai walking groups from the Blue Zones Project in Okinawa Japan. It means “meeting for a common purpose.” In a 2020 study published in the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, researchers compared walking alone and walking with peers. Study of those 85 and older, found that walking at least one hour a week could reduce cardiovascular mortality and all causes of death. This walking group had a lower risk than peers who were physically inactive. Additionally, older adults were found to need fewer steps to experience positive health outcomes and lowered mortality risk, as many have mobility problems, or other barriers to exercise.
