Match Summary – Nov 11th Nothing But Trouble vs. Keene Racquet Club
Overall Summary – It was a great day of tennis for ‘Nothing But Trouble’. We won all 4 courts today! The hospitality that the Keene team extended to our players was super nice and appreciated. Our players showed their talents and versatilities and brought home the W for the team. Communication on the court was great! Our players talked over strategies, kept their focus, and shook off bad shots by supporting each other. What a wonderful result! They talked over what they were observing on the court, and adjusted their play appropriately and kept their opponents guessing. Keep this up! Communication is key to winning! Even if it’s simply to tell each other…nice shot…let’s do that again!

Details:
SINGLES - Lisa Hunter played a formidable opponent. The rallies went long and both players moved the ball well from side to side and kept the ball in play. I witnessed several rallies where the ball was hit 20 times just for 1 point. It took the players 1 hour and 20 minutes to play out the first set. Lisa won 7-6, 6-2. Nicely done!

D1 – Yolanda & Donna were matched against two of Keene’s most seasoned and talented players. Our ladies played a very smart game against their opponents. They kept the ball deep and kept their shots cross-court – just like Alex has been telling us in our drills! The Spin Doctor (Yo) had some amazing backhand slices that took the ball cross court and clear off the court! Donna & Yolanda took turns at owning the net game and put away many points at the net by hitting the ball to their opponents feet and as well as angling their shots out of play. Yolanda & Donna took their match 6-3, 6-3. Great win!

D2 – The dynamic duo of Walker/Mancini played 2 efficient lobbers. Our girls played aggressive and took things ‘out of the air’ in true Alejandro fashion. He would have been proud. They also took command of the net and then silenced their game for good. The final nail in the coffin was the blazing serve of Texas Tina while the Magician Mancini’s new spin serve foiled any hope of a comeback by our opponents! With all these skills our girls dealt them handy 6-4, 6-2 defeat! Great job ladies!!

D3 – Diane Vargonick & Liz Nieuwenhuizen played a great match! Diane’s net game quickly ended many points as she put the ball away nicely. Liz’s forehand cross-court shots were very productive and consistent – again keeping the ball in play to set up a net shot for her partner, Diane, to put it away! Diane & Liz N handily won their match 6-1, 6-2. Woohoo!!!

Congratulations to Yolanda on passing her ENT boards! You rock ON and OFF the court! Happy birthdays to Rocky, Lisa Mancini, & Jess!
