Lets make sure we have barriers in place to prevent accidental drownings happening and let’s be prepared to act if an accident occurs!

1. Locked pool fences and gates that children cannot climb
2. Always supervise loved ones while swimming
3. Pool alarms
5. Know CPR and basic first aid

Water safety is most effective when it is built in layers, and self-rescue skills are an important part of that foundation ISR lessons help children learn how to respond if they unexpectedly find themselves in the water, giving families an additional layer of protection and peace of mind. Our goal is to create preparedness, confidence, and safer experiences around the water. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn these lifesaving skills!

Hi friends, I am so excited to see so many new faces here! My name is Masae and I’m a certified ISR instructor teaching on eastern Long Island. I’m pictures here with my husband Tom and our 2 year old Berner named Gus.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I came to become an ISR instructor. I’ve always had a love for anything water related, I grew up on a boat, became a lifeguard at 16 and have continued to push water safety into schools on Long Island.

When I learned of ISR something just clicked, it was a way for me to become a part of a survival chain. To allow infants and children near me to be a bit safer around the water that surrounds our Island. I find such joy in watching my students and their families learn and grow during our lessons!

I’d love to hear your experience with ISR or how we came to meet! Let me know below!

As of July 1, 2026 Senate Bill S1349A is now in effect in the state of New York! The bill requires school districts to provide parents and students with information about water safety education and swim lessons during enrollment. By increasing awareness and access to information, drowning incidents are prevented before they have a chance to happen. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn life-saving water skills and it’s a reality in New York State!
