Who says kids can’t have fun fishing? 🎣💙

Jude caught his very first salmon yesterday—and that smile says it all.

Getting kids outdoors isn’t just about catching fish. It’s about building confidence, learning patience, trying something new, and discovering just how capable they really are.

And sometimes… it’s about bringing home dinner. 😉🐟

Get them outside. Let them explore. Let them surprise themselves.

How did you discover Buckhorn Camps? 🌲

Carl started with a Google search for Maine sporting camps — then used AI to narrow it down to exactly what he was looking for.

And somehow, that search led him all the way to our little island. ❤️

We’d love to know… how did you find Buckhorn?

Google? Facebook? A friend? AI? Or maybe you’ve just always known about us?

Sometimes, the best moments at Buckhorn aren’t planned.

No fishing. No hunting. No agenda.

Just a quiet paddle down Cooper Brook… and a family of otters reminding us to slow down, watch, and enjoy the wild around us. 🦦🌿

You otter be at Buckhorn.

🍁 AUTUMN EXHALE | October 9–11

Maybe you’ve been carrying more than you realize.

The responsibilities. The schedules. The constant noise. The heaviness of the world. Taking care of everyone and everything.

And somewhere in all of that… you.

This October, we’re inviting you to put it down for a couple of days.

Buckhorn is a place where people come to fish, hunt, paddle and explore. But for this one weekend, the island slows down.

Come across the lake, settle into a lakeside cabin and let yourself be taken care of.

Last fall, Tracy Poliquin brought something truly special to Buckhorn. This year she returns with her dear friend and soul sister, Tracey Swanson, for an intimate weekend of Guided Forest Therapy, yoga, meditation, breathwork, sound healing, paddling, connection and stillness.

Come with your daughter.
Your best friend.
Your sister.

Or maybe this time, just bring you. ❤️

The world will still be there when you return.

For two nights, you can put it down.

The first one is officially in the books. 🌲

A week of learning how to build a fire, use a knife safely, navigate the woods, build shelter, practice first aid and watercraft safety—and maybe most importantly, learning what they’re capable of.

There was rain. There was sunshine. There was swimming, paddling, laughter, full bellies, new friendships and plenty of time spent in the woods.

This is exactly what we hoped Youth Bushcraft Camp at Buckhorn Camps could be: a place for young people to unplug, get their hands dirty, learn real outdoor skills, build confidence and experience the kind of independence that comes from spending time in the wilderness.

A huge thank you to Nanoq Guide Services — our incredible instructors, along with everyone who donated, supported, encouraged and helped us bring this first camp to life.

And yes… we’re doing it again.

🌲 Youth Bushcraft Camp will return in 2027.
Dates coming soon.

Until next year, campers. ❤️

Sometimes the best therapy doesn’t come with four walls.

It comes with a paddle, still water, fresh air, and a place where you can simply breathe.

Paddle. Relax. Breathe. Repeat.

💚 Welcome to Buckhorn Camps.

The grandkids spent the weekend reminding us that the best childhood memories don’t come from a screen.

They come from rolling homemade pasta, catching fish, building wooden swords, exploring the woods, and turning moose sheds into treasures.

Out here, they learn with their hands, their hearts, and a little bit of imagination.

These are the moments we hope they’ll carry with them long after summer is over. ❤️ ❤️

Some places don’t need to be reinvented. They just need to be experienced.

At Buckhorn Camps, mornings begin on a quiet porch, afternoons are spent in a hammock, and a paddle across the lake can feel like stepping back in time.

If you’ve been longing for a place where life slows down, this is it.
