My mom, Frannie, is 70 years old and just deadlifted 106 lbs 3 times in our Legends class, and made it look easy!
I'm obviously proud of her.
But the amount of weight isn't really why I wanted to share this video.
My grandma is 97 years old with dementia. She had a bad fall last year and broke her pelvis. For months, she was non weight bearing. Meaning, she couldn't stand up on her own and put any weight on her feet.
My mom was the one who had to step up and become the care-giver for my grandma.
Think about what that requires.
At 70 years old, my mom needed to have the strength, balance, and confidence to help another person safely get out of a bed/chair, move around the house, and make it through everyday life.
But, my mom was ready for it!
This is why she trains!
My mom had joined our Legends class two years ago. She works on balance and building strength that relates to everyday life. She lifts odd shaped things daily. She carries heavy objects around the gym. She does this while is tired.
Alll of this mimics what my mom has to do everyday with my grandma.
Now, think about this... what would've happened if my mom took the "normal" route of a 70 year old lady???
Maybe no exercise?
Maybe easy walking?
Maybe water aerobics?
Life doesn't stop asking us to lift things because we turn 60, 70, and 80 years old.
Life keeps moving along and it's up to us to keep up.
My grandma is lucky to have my mom.
I'm going to through this out there for you, regardless of your age...
Are you physically ready to step in and take care of someone?
Are you physically ready to take care of anything life throws at you?
If not, I challenge you to become a badass like my mom!
Mom, keep kicking ass! I'm super proud of you!
