Eight overs in a senior league. Seven grown men.

Ahan Behera has trained the same way all year. Same run-up every session, same fire, nobody ever having to say a word to him. Head high through all of it, including the weeks the calls went to other boys.

Watch the fourth wicket. Absolute jaffa.

That’s not a good weekend — that’s a kid who was never bowling for the selectors.

Ahan, champion. Don’t change a thing.

Champions. Strikers U13 Tensors.

Every tournament turns on one game. You just don’t know which one until it’s over.

Ours was Saturday. Three runs short chasing CCA. The boys barely spoke after that one.

Two days earlier the same group had put up 289 and won by 240. Then 224 and won by 175. Then three runs.

Sunday’s final was a different kind of night. 148 on the board and nothing to spare. SRCA batted deep and took it all the way.

We won by 6.

Samraat took MVP and finished with the most runs of the tournament — 234 of them. Ayush Rao, best bowler. Yug, best fielder. Every individual award in the division came back with us.

But the awards don’t cover it. Sharvil’s bowling. Rishi Ram. Rudy in the final. Those last five overs were as clutch as anything I’ve seen at this age, and nobody hands out a trophy for it.

I don’t know if the boys understand yet how rarely a weekend like this happens. Give it a few years.

That’s not four good days of cricket — that’s a team that lost by three runs on Saturday and found a way to win by six on Sunday.

To the Tensors: you earned every bit of it.

Coach Esmail, Sachin and Rishi — thank you for the hours nobody sees.

And to the parents who stood on that field all weekend, this one’s yours too.

Bilal B. Draft pick, MiLC 2026. Year two.

Most of our stories start at U11. His started in ninth grade, on a flight from Bangalore. New country, new school, new everything — and cricket was the only thing that came with him.

Two seasons of trying every role, looking for his own.

Then 67 off 37 against UC. Then 71 against Tracy, seven of them into the crowd. Back-to-back fifties.

Something has clicked. This year he finds out.

He picked us before we could pick him.

Vidit Kwatra — draft pick, MiLC 2026.

He came to us at twelve and has told us almost nothing about himself since. Bad winter — not a word. Flu all week before a final — played it, won it, never mentioned it.

Then he said one thing: that he wanted to be here. He gave up a guaranteed pre-draft spot somewhere else to say it. At fifteen.

Praneel Venna. Draft pick, MiLC 2026.

He's been doing a man's job since he was fourteen. When the academy was at its lowest he was the one holding it up, and every time a game got close the ball went to him.

He's also the gentlest kid in the group. Things land on him and he doesn't hide it — and he turns up the next morning and bowls tearaway fast anyway.

That's the hard part. Not the pace.

Cricket is a team game. The last eight months weren't.

Kashyap Manchili — draft pick, MiLC 2026. Best gloves in our circuit, in every Hub side since he was small enough to need both hands for a trophy, and the one doing impressions of half the squad in the corner of the dressing room.

He never wanted to be a story. He wanted to be a cricketer. First game back: fifty-three off forty-six, and man of the match — the same words that were on his very first trophy.

Some journeys inspire. Some transform.

The comeback is done. This is the new chapter.
