Summer sports season is in full swing - and so is summer sports injury season. ๐Ÿˆโšฝ๐ŸŽพ

The warm months bring weekend warriors back to the field, new runners to the trails, and kids ramping up their activity after a school year of sitting. All of that movement is wonderful - and all of it comes with injury risk if your body isn't prepared.

The most common summer injuries we see: ankle sprains, knee pain (especially runner's knee and IT band syndrome), shoulder strains from overhead sports, and low back flares from sudden increases in activity.

The good news: most of these are preventable with the right warm-up, progressive loading, and some basic movement screening. You don't need to be an elite athlete to move smart.

At Vita, we offer movement screenings and injury prevention programming for adults and young athletes alike. Catch a problem before it becomes a problem.

๐Ÿƒ Are you ramping up activity this summer? Tell us what sport or activity below!

Let's have the conversation nobody's having at brunch: urinary leakage is not just "part of getting older" or "what happens after babies." ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Yes, it's common - shockingly common. But common doesn't mean inevitable, untreatable, or something you should just manage with pads for the rest of your life.

Urinary leakage (also called stress incontinence) happens when the pelvic floor muscles can't manage pressure increases - like coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, or lifting. The pelvic floor can also be too tight, causing urgency leakage or difficulty controlling the bladder entirely.

The good news: pelvic floor therapy has a very high success rate for incontinence.

If you've been quietly dealing with this - during workouts, on runs, when you sneeze - you don't have to. And you definitely don't have to feel embarrassed about it. This is literally what we do every day.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Share this post with someone who needs to know this is treatable.

Monday check-in. ๐Ÿ’› This week, we're talking about something most of us push past without realizing it - the physical signals your body sends when stress gets too loud.

Here's something we don't talk about enough: stress is physical. And chronic stress often shows up in your body long before it shows up in your mind. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Tension headaches. Tight shoulders. Low back aches. Jaw clenching. Digestive discomfort. Poor sleep. These aren't random - they're your nervous system waving a flag.

When your body is in a constant state of stress response, muscles stay guarded, inflammation lingers, and healing slows. That "mystery pain" that won't go away? Stress might be one of the reasons.

At Vita, we take a whole-person approach to wellness. That means when we're treating your shoulder or your pelvic floor or your low back, we're also asking about your sleep, your stress load, and what recovery actually looks like in your life - because all of it matters.

You don't have to live with chronic tension. There are real, evidence-based tools to help.

We've heard it all: "Physical therapy is just stretching." "It's only for people recovering from surgery." "I don't need physical therapy - I just need to push through it." ๐Ÿ™…

Let's clear the air.

Physical therapy is one of the most evidence-based, versatile forms of healthcare available - and most people drastically underuse it. A great physical therapist doesn't just give you exercises. They assess how your body moves, identify the root cause of your pain or limitation, and build a plan that gets you back to what you love faster - and keeps you there.

At Vita, physical therapy looks different from a big-box clinic. Your sessions are 1-on-1 with your therapist (not handed off to an aide). You have time to ask questions. And your care plan is actually tailored to you - not a protocol.

If you've been in pain, limited in your movement, or been told to "rest and see how it goes" - you deserve a real answer.

Summer break doesn't mean sports break - it means training season. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

For young athletes ages 8โ€“18, the summer months are a golden window: less school stress, more time to develop skills, and the chance to build a physical foundation that pays off all year long. But "just playing" isn't always enough - intentional movement, mobility work, and sport-specific conditioning make a real difference in performance AND in staying injury-free when the season starts back up.

At Vita, our youth athletic training combines strength, agility, coordination, and injury prevention in a way that's age-appropriate and actually fun. We meet athletes where they are - whether they're a competitive travel player or a recreational kid who wants to level up.

And parents: if your young athlete has been dealing with a nagging pain, this is the time to address it - before the fall season kicks in.

๐Ÿ‹๏ธ What sport does your athlete play? Tell us below!

Summer is officially in session - and there's no better time to get intentional about how you want to feel for the next 90 days. โ˜€๏ธ

Whether your goal is building strength, keeping up with your kids, getting back to a sport you love, or just having more energy at the end of the day - a solid plan makes all the difference. That's where personal training at Vita comes in.

Our trainers don't hand you a generic program and wish you luck. They sit down with you, learn what's driving you, look at where you are physically, and build a program that actually fits your life. Busy schedule? We work with it. Coming back from injury? We have you covered. New to the gym? We love that.

The best summer body is one that feels good, moves well, and lets you actually enjoy the season.

๐Ÿ’ช What's your summer fitness goal? Drop it in the comments - we love celebrating wins before they happen.
