Milwaukee Torrent - Bayer Leverkusen - Soccer Camp 2020

Hello! With just less than a month to go before camp begins, I want to share some important updates.
Camp Coaches
With the uncertainty of travel bans ending for European Union travelers into the United States, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel travel plans for our visiting Bayer Leverkusen coaches and players from Germany. Rather than cancel the event, we have quickly pivoted to secure coaches with international playing and coaching experience to lead the camp this year. This change, while unfortunate and unavoidable, will not impact the camp experience and skill development for your camper. Expect a fun and engaging week!
COVID-19 Operating Procedures
It is important to note that we have developed a camp plan that will deliver a fun yet appropriate environment that considers socially distant guidelines. As communicated previously, Ewald Fields provides a large area to create many small groupings of campers. Additionally, Milwaukee Torrent’s partner, Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine has begun to guide us on best practice procedures for camp operations and will be on-site each day of the camp.
Anticipate further information, including an announcement revealing camp coaches, and detailed instructions about camp operations and drop-off / pick-up protocol throughout the next few weeks.
We look forward to having your camper attend the event this year! With so many sporting events, community activities, and other summer plans canceled, we are looking forward to being outside and playing a sport we all love. And, we're sure your camper is too. See you in a few weeks!

Update on the June 22-26 Milwaukee Torrent/Bayer Leverkusen Soccer Camp. Over the last several weeks, we have been in communication with our colleagues in Germany to discuss latest COVIS-19 developments and its potential impact to hosting the camp. We are happy to share with you that we have developed a number of contingency plans for operating the camp safely in what may be an environment that requires social distancing. Fortunately, with the commitment of Bayer Leverkusen coaches and players to travel and lead the camp, combined with the spacious area available at Strike FC / Ewald Fields (see picture), we have the ability to conduct small group training sessions. Part of our contingency planning will be to assign campers to groups of 10 with one coach. Additionally, if required by current social distancing guidelines, we can arrange training in such a way that small groups remain independent throughout the week to avoid creating a larger gathering with a larger degree of contact between players and coaches.
It is our hope that in two months’ time, as the camp begins, that COVID-19 restrictions will have begun to ease and that we will be able to host a camp that celebrates the return to sports and the passion that your player and our camp coaches have for soccer. As we approach the start of camp, we will be sure to provide further updates. In the meantime, keep the camp on your calendar and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
