Students from my Thursday class gathered to celebrate the completion of learning their tai chi form, which took 3 years. We did a nice set of tai chi movements together.
October 9th will be the beginning of possibly two new tai chi classes due to the influx of new students. Thanks Marian for taking these great photos! www.taichiwithellen.com

Tonight my tai chi students and I welcomed Rami Kouhana, a tai chi/qigong teacher from Mexico. Rami is also a massage therapist, bodyworker/healer. It was interesting to view each other’s tai chi forms and share tai chi information. Thanks Rami for visiting our class! www.taichiwithellen.com

Here’s a peek into another of my classes. After this class all of my tai chi students went out together to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Very festive! If anyone is wishing for delicious Chinese food, try the Tea House on University Avenue in Minneapolis. 🏮🐍🥢 www.taichiwithellen.com

As I walked along Lake Hiawatha on the coldest of days, I saw the sunlight streaming through the clouds and had to capture its beauty.
This reminds me of a quote posted at Tao Foods, a local eatery in Minneapolis. The quote said, “It’s the beauty within us that makes it possible for us to recognize the beauty around us. The question is not what you look at but what you see.
May we all be like the sun streaming through the clouds bringing forth our own great beauty. Happy Winter Solstice tomorrow! www.taichiwithellen.com

There is a nonprofit sanctuary, ARC retreat community, hidden in the woods near Stanchfield, MN. It is a gem!
Yesterday I attended a very inspiring tai chi retreat for one day there. It was with Master Bing (Sifu Zhong XueChao) of Wudang Mountain. He taught us how to move like a turtle in water while doing the turtle qigong form, and how to embody the fluidity and power of Chinese calligraphy. So interesting!
Out of respect I will only post photos of the setting we were in. There is more info on the links:

This was my second year with C**n Rapids high schoolers. The teacher told me that one of her students showed the movement “Awaken the Dragon" to her volleyball team. I was so happy to hear this! www.taichiwithellen.com

Thanks to my student Nan for taking these photos of me transitioning from the Backhand Slap into Repulse Monkey.
Because each posture within a tai chi form flows into another posture, doing tai chi is often very relaxing. Tai chi is referred to as fluid meditation or meditation in motion. www.taichiwithellen.com

I always look forward to Thursdays because I get to teach this group of students. They are really into it! Some of them have been doing tai chi for 7-8 years while the beginners are finishing their second year. It’s interesting to teach people with different levels of experience in the same class.
Tai chi is a practice in maintaining our balance whether it be physically, mentally or emotionally. It’s hard sometimes to achieve balance, but important to try. www.taichiwithellen.com
