Lauren Rognerud has become the first female National Golden Gloves Champion in Upper Midwest Golden Gloves history.

An incredible week in Tulsa capped off with a national title at 132lbs. Congratulations to Lauren and her team on an unforgettable accomplishment representing the Upper Midwest on the national level.

Lauren Rognerud will represent the Upper Midwest in the 132lb National Golden Gloves Championship bout tonight against Nicole Campbell of Metro New York.

Congrats to Isaac Wunderlich and Zach O’Connor on bringing home medals at the Golden Gloves VR Tournament in Tulsa. 🥊🎮

Bout 4 — Ring 1 Sumaya Mohamed vs. Zoe Hicks (Michigan)

Bout 8 — Ring 1 Lauren Rognerud vs. Casey Dial (Mid-South)

The 2026 National Golden Gloves Tournament continues in Tulsa, OK, and the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves team has battled through another tough week of national competition.

Several athletes earned victories and advanced rounds against some of the best amateur boxers in the country, highlighted by strong performances from:

✅ Benjamin Xiong (110lbs) — advanced with a win before withdrawing due to injury
✅ Sumaya Mohamed (119lbs) — advanced and now heads to the semifinals
✅ Lauren Rognerud (132lbs) — advanced to the semifinals with two national tournament victories
✅ Jose “Sammy” Saucedo Larranaga (154lbs) — earned an opening round victory
✅ Zac O’Connor (176lbs) — earned an opening round victory

The Upper Midwest now has TWO semifinalists still competing tomorrow, Friday, May 15th:

Sumaya Mohamed — 119lbs
Lauren Rognerud — 132lbs

Congratulations to every athlete who represented the Upper Midwest on the national stage this week. Win or lose, it takes tremendous dedication and courage to compete at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions.
