Coffee (Outside) on Sunday will be at this bike rack, which is amazing! Meet us at 10am in front of Ichiddo Ramen at 1st Ave NE and University. And then marvel at this beautiful piece of bicycle infrastructure.

This bike rack is actually a work of art. It is called Longship Compass.

Artist, Kristen Arden puts bicycles and boats together as transportation and adds a connection to the stars and nature. It’s art with a purpose and a message. Come check it out at Coffee (Outside).

This is across from West Photo and Surdyk’s. (There’s also a Dero repair stand with no tools.)

Coffee (Outside) is about getting to know Northeast’s people and places. It’s a low key hang with neighbors and friends in a different spot in Northeast Minneapolis every Sunday. We’ll have some treats to share. Hope you can make it! (Hint: bring your own coffee 😉

Feel free to join us for yoga at the bike shop at 9am. Easy class. We even have mats to borrow.

And we launch the NE Community Ride from Coffee (Outside) each week at about 11am. This one is about activating our neighborhoods to make our streets feel more comfortable for people.

We’ll embark from the Sociable parking lot in full daylight and ride until it’s completely dark. Bring your lights and maybe a friend because riders get BOGO c***r after the ride.

Nice easy ride so we can chat. Ten miles. Takes a little more than an hour. Expect good people to hang with before, during, and after.

Technically next week will be peak fall colors, but the leaves are already gorgeous. It almost doesn’t get better than these fall rides.

Change is the only constant. It’s coming either way. If there is no tool for change, change will just break stuff.

Just because you build a dam, doesn’t mean the river stops coming. There has to be a way for the water to flow or the dam will break and there will be uncontrolled destruction. Voting is a way to let the raging waters flow as a consistent stream.

If people don’t have a say in their own fate, they will get frustrated and start blaming. On a long enough timeline that frustration will boil over. But give people a say in society, and they will take responsibility for their own destiny. (They will blame themselves.)

If you don’t want violent revolution, you need voting (or religion). Voting is societally approved revolution. We all agree to a tiny revolution every couple of years and nobody gets hurt. It’s the steam release valve.

Woe to the country that stifles the voice of the people. That country continually moves toward violence.

We’re getting into fall colors territory now. With temps in the upper 60s / low 70s, it doesn’t get much better than cruising around the city with good people. Hope to see you tonight!

We’re still doing about ten miles at an easy pace. Prompt rollout at 6pm to capture as much light as possible. 6:45 sunset means getting back in the dark, so make sure your lights are charged. Otherwise everyone is welcome.

Join us tonight (and every Wednesday) at 6pm for a lovely group ride starting at Sociable C***r Werks. Easy ride with chill riders. Ten mile route takes a little more than an hour and Sociable offers free c***r to participants. You can’t get better than that.

Bring your lights cause sunset is beating us home now. And expect us to be pretty prompt about that 6:00 rollout.

Tare Market has put out a call for help. This summer Minneapolis has been reconstructing the streets that provide access to their business (and several other businesses) and that means the flow of customers has been turned into a trickle.

This is how construction works in our city (and most American cities). Every few years we decimate our business districts with road construction and then we charge them for it. Construction in Minneapolis is SLOW. A small project like this generally takes an entire summer (the road construction season) while other countries condense similar projects down to a few weeks. Other cities actually subsidize businesses during the slow down.

Condensing the construction timeline keeps local businesses from going bankrupt. It preserves jobs. It protects communities. It costs more and so Minneapolis doesn’t do it.

FYI, Tare Market is a packaging-free business. In a world where just 9% of plastics are recycled (and badly), owner/operator Amber decided to make a better way. Not only is Tare Market making it easy for our community to Reduce and Reuse, they’re also setting the example for the rest of us to follow.

But I’m not going to tell you how to get there. I want you to work for it. I want you to have to fight through the construction. I want you to see the craziness that Tare Market’s customers have had to deal with to get to Tare Market (and Bauhaus Brew Labs and Dogwood Coffee Co. and and Padraigs Brewing ) and a whole host of other small local businesses that are all choking to death while Minneapolis has been turning one of our last walkable streets into another street only for cars (but that’s another story).

Every Wednesday you have a chance to join this group. And let me tell you, we would love to meet you. The summer is waning and the Wednesday ride is still growing!

Ride with us tonight. We roll out from the Sociable parking lot at 6pm every Wednesday. Everyone welcome. Easy pace. About ten miles. No one dropped. And free c***r at Sociable.
