✨TCQHA Player Spotlight🏒
Scout (they/them)
#25
Position: Left Wing
Here is what Scout has to say about their experience with hockey and TCQHA:
"I found hockey at a time when I was searching for q***r sports community. I had no idea it would become one of the pillars of my adult life! I love TCQ[HA] because I get to meet new q***rs, compete in a fun way, and grow in my enthusiasm for this most excellent sport."
Thank you for joining us, Scout! We are so happy to have you as a part of this amazing community.

✨TCQHA Player Spotlight 🏒
Craig Larter (he/him)
Position: Left Defense (but happy anywhere on the ice)
Here is what Craig has to say about his experience with hockey and TCQHA:
"Hockey has always been part of my story… even when I thought I’d left it behind.
I started skating at 2 and played through high school, but the locker room never felt like a place I belonged.
As someone with an outgoing personality and a bit of a fem flair, I was often made to feel out of place.
Eventually, the bullying outweighed the love I had for the game, and I walked away completely.
Walking away felt necessary at the time.
But hockey didn’t just disappear; it shaped how I move through the world.
The resilience.
The discipline.
The drive to push through discomfort… all of that stayed with me.
Even when I didn’t feel like I belonged, it still taught me what it means to be part of a team, to rely on others, to be relied on,
and to contribute your piece to something that only works when everyone shows up.
After nearly two decades away, finding TCQHA changed everything.
For the first time, I get to play the sport I love without shrinking who I am to fit into it.
Let’s be real: hockey hasn’t always been a welcoming space for q***r people.
In a lot of ways, it still isn’t.
That’s exactly why TCQHA matters.
Coming back to hockey has been both nostalgic and empowering.
It reminded me that it’s never too late to reconnect with something you love and that the right community can change everything.
This league is more than a place to play -
it’s proof that we belong here.
That we always have.
Every time we step on the ice, we’re reclaiming space that was never truly off-limits—just guarded.
TCQHA is a space built on acceptance, joy, and showing up for one another.
Being part of this community means reclaiming something that once didn’t feel like it was mine and helping make sure it’s accessible for others.
Now, I play for the love of the game
and for the version of me who didn’t feel like they could."
What are the takeaways from Craig's story?
1. It's never too late to pick back up something you once loved or learn/try something new.
2. Hockey is a game to learn or enforce team-building skills, discipline, and extend one's comfort with being uncomfortable.
3. TCQHA is a community for all – all levels, all identities. We welcome you with open arms and a smile.
