Yoga and Acupuncture are natural compliments.
They work with the subtle energy of the body to offer balance and wellness. And during this time of year, when so many subtle shifts of seasons and routines are taking place, this Sunday's offering will be particularly supportive to the ways your body is asking for some care.
In Chinese Medicine, there is a fifth season - late Summer.
Governed by the earth element, this is a time for nourishment and grounding. The Spleen, responsible for all digestion in Chinese medicine, is the primary organ system of this season. When it's out of balance, you might notice bloating, digestive upset, or a tendency toward overthinking.
In this workshop, we'll support healthy movement for both your digestive system and your thoughts. We'll begin with gentle yoga focused on twists stimulate digestion and to cultivate grounding energy, then settle into an extended savasana.
While you are resting with the support of props at the end of class, Nicole and Shelby will offer an acupuncture treatment that supports the Spleen, aids the flow of digestion, and quiets the mind.
Shelby Pasell, LAc (she/her) is a licensed acupuncturist focusing on menstrual health, sports injuries, and pregnancy/fertility. She enjoys supporting folks with complex chronic conditions using acupuncture and herbs. (pictured in her office in Minneapolis)
Nicole Lonergan, LAc (she/her) is a licensed acupuncturist focusing on sports medicine to relieve pain, restore function, and support overall balance. She is also passionate about treating mental health, bringing together the somatic and spiritual elements of acupuncture to support emotional healing. (Pictured at our Square Dance Raffle Table... Our Kids Yoga Fall Series starts THIS SUNDAY!
During these 8 weeks, your child will learn yoga through games, conversation, mindfulness, breathing, and resting.
We will focus on themes of C.O.N.N.E.C.T. - connection to ourselves (mind, body, and spirit) and one another in a fun and playful way. Along the way, your child will learn social-emotional skills (leadership, cooperation, empathy, and courage) and mind-body connection and regulation strategies (somatics, breathing, restorative yoga, and meditation).
Yoga is for real life!...
One child learned how a particular breath practice helped him feel more relaxed before taking a test- we took time to reflect on how breathing in different ways changes how we feel in our bodies and children then shared about how they can practice these breaths in real life!
Please register or reach out if you would like to sign up your child or children. A minimum number of 8 children will be required to run this series with a maximum set at 12. :)

Back to School oftentimes means Back to the Studio!
It's so fun to see friends trickle back into the studio after Summer's sweeping flurry of activity and busyness. Sweet reunions, reconnections, or new friends in the making... It's our vision that this is a studio of connection- not just to ourselves, but community! We would love to reconnect with you in the studio soon!

Join Chelsea for a wonderful night of relaxation on Friday September 11th 7-8:30!
During a fully-supported restorative yoga practice, her voice will soothe your nervous system into further release as she reads aloud from excerpts of books, poetry, and short stories.
Note from Chelsea - "I'm looking forward to leading a relaxing restorative class where I can just read to folks! I love reading to people, and I think we give up the art of listening to stories too readily as we grow out of childhood. I'll choose our content carefully from whatever is thematically lighting me up at the moment."
Join Chelsea next week and save your spot by registering at YogaSanctuaryMpls.com/workshops-class-series (link in bio)

We are always telling ourselves something.
We might not notice the narrative because it’s been there for so long. Or we might believe it so deeply that it just feels so obvious that we don’t realize we play a role in its repetition.
When we set intentions around heart-felt desire, it often feels like a lie at first. We say our intentions in the present tense, so that we can practice believing that this is true. And practicing to believe the impossible is the only way we notice when impossible things become true.
"Alice laughed. 'There's no use trying,' she said. 'One can't believe impossible things.' I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
― Lewis Carroll from Alice in Wonderland
