This is the full 2 minute and 44 second version of the original music track LET’S GO DISCO featuring the original audio sourced from the promotional 1979 “The Monsters Go Disco” flexi-disc that General Mills printed onto the back of their famous Monster Cereals boxes.

You could literally cut the disc out of the box and play it on your record player. This original song was brilliantly composed by Jeff Elmassian of ENDLESS NOISE (California) and the video was edited by David Gioiella at Norther Lights in New York City.

We made this song to be included as a bonus hidden track on the recently posted SPOOKY SOUNDS from COUNT CHOCULA CASTLE.

I thought these were cut out craft activities but on closer inspection they say “Iron On” in tiny type on one of them.

Back in 2010 were were planning on turning all 3 MONSTERS CEREALS 1979 FLEXI discs into animated shorts. Not only would it be a wonderful way to bring something back from their past into the modern age but it would also be a noteworthy PR move. Also, seeing as they already existed the procution could start circumvent the lengthy back and forth approval process.

One of the things we were going to do was give BOO BERRY the power to shapeshift as it would allow us to solve for certain things in the stories. For example, when the monsters needed to get from their Mansion to the Disco, or any other location, Boo Berry would turn into a door that they could walk through to instantly transport them to another location. Here are some of those development sketches as made by our in house Creative director at the time, Brad.
