Today we honor Juneteenth — a day of liberation, remembrance, and resilience.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce and enforce the freedom of more than 250,000 enslaved Black Americans. That day became known as Juneteenth, blending “June” and “nineteenth,” and it has been celebrated for over 150 years as a symbol of Black freedom and the long struggle for justice in America.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom was not granted all at once — and that justice delayed is justice denied. It is a day to reflect on the legacy of slavery, to uplift Black voices, and to continue the work of building a more equitable future.

🎉✊🏾 Juneteenth is not just history — it’s a call to action.

Take sometime to reflect on this day but also show up and celebrate. A few blocks away is hosting Juneteenth amongst others. Please view all photos for information from
