A member of the cheer community has suffered a terrible trauma and we want to do all we can do to help.

First and foremost, everybody is physically safe - but emotionally they are hurting and overwhelmed. The Chandler family lost their home in a house fire last night.

Please help in any way possible.

Clothing donations for Miles (age 7) and Charlotte (age 9) can be dropped off at Everbrook Academy in Savage or brought to my home until we have another plan (Jessica - comp director - contact me at [email protected] for address, etc).

If you feel like throwing in a gift card for Target, restaurants, whatever else... I'm sure they could put that to good use.

..Laker prep learned new skills......Middle School & Elementary put on beachy frills..Several athletes worked on gopher stunting drills!
We were excited to support our Varsity and JV sisters at their clinic and performance at the Blue / Gold game!

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over, but we're going out on such a high note at PLAY comp cheer. Our athletes are working hard and shining like stars; our parents are supporting the program, and our coaches... oh our coaches!!! Where would we be without you??

We've had to say goodbye to several of our amazing college-bound teachers as they head off to new adventures (or head back to close out meaningful chapters), but lakers are always learning and we will continue to do so until you get back!

Our prep squad had their very own UCA camp today, and it was a huge success! They learned the basics of stunting, along with the cheer portion of their routine!!

Presenting..... the Prior Lake Middle School Game Day Squad!

🎉🎉P.L.A.Y Comp Cheer is THRILLED to present our MS Game Day squad!🎉🎉

❣️This is a program that existed several years ago, and was "sidelined" (see what I did there?) due to a lack of resources. Thanks to the determination and dedication of our amazing Coaches Kaylin, Stacey, and Shauna, combined with 20% growth in overall program enrollment, we arrived at this: a fun, fresh, exciting and competitive GAME DAY ROUTINE.

❓What is Game Day? Nope, they don't actually cheer at the football games, but in this context, they replicate that experience...

📣🎶🤸‍♂️👏🫶Think: school songs, marching band music, flags, megaphones, spiriting, crowd engagement, and the tumbling and stunting we love from a competitive cheer squad.

In the competition setting, the judges will call out "defense" or "offense" or a variety of other cues to prompt the squad how to perform the next section of their routine!

It's an exciting element of our program and we are excited to have it BACK FOR GOOD!

🎉🎉Annnnd it's GO TIME for our littlest lakers of PLAY comp cheer! practice kicked off last night at community park, with a fun skills practice with our beloved program Coach Kaylin! They worked on some tumbling basics, arm and hand positions and other foundational skills to start the season on the right foot!

🗓️Next up -- their very own , choreography, and counting down to our parent showcase in late October.

☝️Laker Prep is one of the most important building blocks of . This is its THIRD season, and the program has grown from 12 to 18 athletes.

🫶🫶It began after tryouts in 2024, when the board recognized the need for a stepping stone from sideline to comp cheer - for families to get a taste of competition cheerleading before diving in head first. It is now what we consider one of the most important parts of our program, laying the framework for "years of successful cheers" for these athletes and their families!

🤸🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️The floors at TOMS are being redone, so you'll catch us all around town this week - from The Tumble Club to Prior Lake High School to Lakefront Park! - next week, back to our usual schedule with shiny new gym floors!🤸🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️

Park Cleanup, pizza, and playground time for PLAY comp cheer! 75 athletes, ages k-8, gathered at lakefront park tonight to PLAY IT FORWARD by cleaning up our beautiful park -- and then enjoyed some pizza and park time!

Each travel / competitive sport within PLAY completed a service project each year as a part of the "play it forward" initiative, where we give back to the community! So grateful for these hardworking girls and the gift of beautiful weather tonight!

Our sideline cheer squads practice in this park and start their season soon - glad we could help tidy up their space!

🎉 Annnnnd that's a wrap on the 2026 UCA camp for our middle school, elementary and elementary advanced squads! These girls put in 12 hours of work over 2 days, learning skills, perfecting routines, and developing as cheerleaders and athletes... and ended with a mini performance for parents to show off all they'd accomplished!

🎉 Can't wait for Blue and Gold choreography next week, and for Laker Prep to join us next month! Comp season will be here before we know it!

Thank you to all who participated in PLAY's first ever 50/50 split the pot raffle - our lucky winner was drawn yesterday and walked away with a whopping $2655!

Your contribution of raffle tickets purchased help to fund equipment, rental space, uniforms, coaching fees and more for the 2026-27 season... every dollar helps! We hope to do this a few more times this season so stay tuned for details - luck favors the prepared!
