This past weekend Super D Wrestling had kids competing at the Minnesota and Wisconsin Freestyle & Greco State Tournaments. We saw a lot of improvement from previous years, and itâs good seeing the hard work and consistency starting to pay off. A lot of the wrestlers were able to get on the podium this year through staying committed to the process and continuing to improve week by week.
One thing I was really proud of was seeing some of the kids step out of their comfort zone and give Greco a try. Trying a new style of wrestling can be challenging, but the kids went out there, competed hard, learned new skills, and had fun doing it. Congratulations to all the wrestlers who were willing to try something new and continue growing as athletes.
Proud of all the kids for competing, supporting each other mat side, and continuing to represent Super D Wrestling the right way on and off the mat.

On April 22, I had my first wrestling competition since 2010. I got a lot of questions asking if I was nervous or worried about the matches, being that I hadnât competed in a long time. The answer was no, I was not.
One of the main reasons was that over the last few years I had been doing Brian Cainâs mental performance training. By doing that, I gained skills on how to deal with the mental side of competing and coaching. It helped me change my mindset to a process-driven focus over an outcome-driven focus.
Brian Cainâs mental work had me prepared for the tournament. He also has his athletes use a tool called HabitShare, where you have an accountability partner to make sure you are doing your daily routines that will help you be successful. There is a picture of how many days I have been consistent with my daily routines.
I wasnât worried about the outcomeâI was just looking forward to my performance and controlling what I could, and letting the results take care of themselves.
I won the tournament after 15 years of not competing. I got back in there with no doubts and laser focus, thanks to MPM.
If youâre an athlete who might struggle with competitions, this would be the place to start.

Another solid weekend of wrestling.
The kids are continuing to get better, and you can really see the improvements showing up on the mat. Thatâs what happens when you stay consistent and trust the process.
Whatâs been just as impressive is how this team is coming togetherâsupporting each other mat side, pushing one another, and building real friendships through wrestling. That kind of support system goes a long way, both in this sport and beyond.
Proud of the growth weâre seeing every week. đȘ

We competed this weekend at the Apple Valley Freestyle Open and the team showed up ready to battle.
The kids had some tough matches, but what stood out most was their resilience. They kept fighting, stayed composed, and trusted the work theyâve been putting in.
Thatâs what itâs all aboutâthe process. And week by week, itâs showing more and more in our matches. đ
Big thank you to all the athletes who stepped on the mat and to the parents for the continued support.
Weâre getting better every time out. đȘ

Had a great time this weekend coaching and watching the team compete. What stood out the most wasnât just the wrestlingâit was seeing the kids support each other both mat side and off the mat.
Watching this team grow, and seeing these athletes develop not just in wrestling but as individuals, is what itâs all about as a coach.
Big thank you to all the athletes for stepping out there and competing, and to the parents for the support and commitmentâit doesnât go unnoticed.
Weâre building something special. đȘ

Vincent Z put together an incredible weekend on the mat at the Wisconsin Youth State Tournament đȘ
After a tough loss in his second match, he showed what real grit looks likeâbattling all the way through the backside of the bracket and winning 6 straight matches to earn a 3rd place finish đ„
If you know wrestling, you know the backside of the bracket is a war. It takes toughness, conditioning, and a mindset that refuses to quit. Vincent showed all of that and more. This is the kind of performance that builds champions.
Proud of the fight, the growth, and the attitude. This is just the beginning.
