Know before you go. 🔥 Fire restrictions and regulations vary by location, so check before you head out.
→ Have a backup plan. If campfires aren't in the cards, come prepared with other ways to cook, stay warm, and enjoy the evening.
→ A few small habits go a long way: park only on durable surfaces (never dry grass), take extra care with anything that could spark a fire, and skip the campfire altogether when conditions call for it.
Fire safety isn't about missing out, it's about keeping public lands open, healthy, and accessible for everyone, all summer long.
To the wildland firefighters and land management crews already working hard this season: thank you. Your work keeps communities safe and these places accessible to all of us.

Created in 2001, the Roadless Rule limits new road building, logging, and mineral leases in designated areas. These areas make up over 44 million acres of our public lands and offer hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and motorized recreation.
Using our own geospatial data, we examined the recreational opportunities within inventoried roadless areas across the U.S. We built a map so you can explore what these places offer.
What we found:
🥾 17,715 miles of hiking and biking trails
🚙 7,201 miles of full-size motorized trails and roads
🏍️ 2,494 miles of ATV + side-by-side trails
🛵 2,167 miles of motorized singletrack
❄️ 1,295 miles of snowmobile trails
⛷️ 1,492 mapped ski routes
🦌 58% of Roadless Rule areas are elk habitat
🐻 78% of Roadless Rule areas are black bear habitat

The longest day of the year doesn't pick favorites.
It's an extra hour at the fishing hole. An extra hour on the trail. An extra hour of scouting. An extra hour at camp.
Happy Summer Solstice. Go out and use it. 🌞

An easement is a legal right to travel through private land to reach public land. In some cases, it's the only way in. 🗺️
Thanks to the MAPLand Act, thousands of these routes are now visible in onX Hunt and onX Offroad. But with access comes responsibility.
Here's how to travel easements the respectful and responsible way:
✅ Move slowly. Reduce dust, noise, and wear
✅ Stay on the easement. No deviating.
✅ Be friendly to landowners. This access exists because of them.
✅ Leave gates how you find them.
✅ If it's muddy, turn around. Don't leave ruts.
✅ Report discrepancies or blockages to the managing agency.
Access is a privilege. Let's protect it together. Learn more in our blog.

For decades, critical public land access records existed only on paper, tucked away in government offices, vulnerable to floods, fires, and mold.
The MAPLand Act changed that.
Championed by Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and signed into law in 2022, it requires the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and three other federal agencies to digitize access records and publish them in a map-compatible format, so every American can see where they're legally allowed to go.
As of spring 2026, more than 30,000 easements have been published. This is a huge milestone in the MAPLand implementation, driven largely by U.S. Forest Service 🌲
Better data = better access = more people experiencing the public land we all own.
