Our annual Pianissimo! concerts are coming up on Friday, October 13th and Saturday, October 14th at 7:30pm, with Poco Pianissimo! on Saturday at 1:00pm. The 150th birthday of Sergei Rachmaninoff, arguably the world’s most beloved pianist, must be celebrated with “as much piano as possible!” This concert features many of his great works performed by myself, Margery McDuffie Whatley, Steven Hesla, Barbara Blegen, Jeffrey Shumway, Aneta Panusz, and many UM students. Arielle Nachtigal will also be singing (hint: Eric Carmen). Additionally, Spokane Steinway Gallery will be hosting a piano sale that weekend as well! What a way to celebrate the piano! Come join the Rach Stars of Montana piano for an incredible night of music!

Post 2 of 2. What a fantastic weekend in Fort Worth, Texas!! Back in October a group composed(haha) of junior and senior Piano Pedagogy students was selected to give their presentation at the 12th annual MTNA Collegiate Chapters Symposium. The presentation talked about how to transition from being a student to running a studio. It seemed to be one of the most impactful presentations at the conference, also with a rather special and talented group of students giving it! We had such a great time at the conference, learned a lot, met some new friends, and enjoyed spending some down time with our motley crew! .kmartin .pianogirl .black_

Here at the University of Montana we have a great group of piano students and faculty. It is with great pleasure to announce that our Piano Pedagogy majors: Cassi Bak, Kennedy Black, Landon Kleeman, Isabelle Pearson, and Abby van Loewen (van Allen) have put together a presentation and have been accepted to present at the MTNA Collegiate symposium in Fort Worth, Texas. The presentation goes into great detail about the ins and outs of running a private teaching studio. So again, join me in congratulating the University of Montana Piano Pedagogy majors!!!!
