We love fall trips. Warm days, cool crisp nights, hot coffee, and cold river water. Yes, please.

Although canoes are the most popular vessel for a flatwater river trip through Canyonlands, some people prefer to kayak, and touring kayaks are also a great choice.
โ—ผ๏ธ
Touring kayaks pack a bit differently than canoes. Rather than large dry bags, storage boxes and coolers, you're packing much lighter with small dry bags, pouches of dehydrated foods, and bags of drinking water. Think backpacking rather than car camping.
โ—ผ๏ธ
The best way to fit all this gear into the boat is by keeping it separated in small bags, so you can easily pack things into the forward and rear cargo hatches of the kayak. However, a bunch of little bags is a much more hectic load to handle when you're packing into a shared shuttle.
โ—ผ๏ธ
Enter: the collapsible duffel bag. It consolidates all your little odds and ends into one easy-to-handle bag, so that it can be loaded into a van, trailer, or jetboat with ease. Once you've unloaded them into your kayak, simply roll them up into a little bundle and tuck them away until the end of your trip. Then when you stage your pickup, they handily swallow up all the little pieces of gear again for an easy load-out into the shuttle.

Thanks to this trip launching at Mineral Bottom for the photos of a model pack-out!

Pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) can often be seen on the drive out to the Green River to begin a river trip. Here's one having a stroll in the lush alfalfa fields of Ruby Ranch.
๐Ÿœ๏ธ
Although they're commonly referred to as "North American antelope", the pronghorn is not actually related to the old world antelopes of Africa, the middle east, and central Asia. They were once one of several antilocaprid species that inhabited north America during the ice age, and are the only surviving member of that family.
๐Ÿœ๏ธ
Pronghorns are the fastest land mammal in the Americas, reaching speeds of up to 55 mph for short distances. They may have evolved this speed to evade predators that are now long since extinct like prehistoric wolves, north american lions, and even an american species of cheetah.
๐Ÿœ๏ธ
While they are capable of incredible speed, they do not possess any great skill for jumping. As such, you can sometimes observe them going underneath fences rather than over them.

Just in time for those fall river trips!
๐Ÿ”ฅ
With monsoonal moisture and lower temps moving into the region, fire bans are set to lift across southeast Utah at midnight on September 4. This includes Canyonlands National Park and the Green River corridor in Labyrinth and Stillwater canyons.
๐Ÿ”ฅ
This fire ban has been in effect since June this year, as part of an effort to combat an extremely active fire season fueled by high temperatures, high winds, and low humidity.
๐Ÿ”ฅ
With the band lifted, please enjoy your campfires responsibly!
๐Ÿ”ฅ
Use a durable metal fire pan to completely contain the fire, as well as all of its coals and ash.
๐Ÿ”ฅ
Burn only driftwood! Don't gather or cut any wood from above the high water line.
๐Ÿ”ฅ
Never leave a fire unattended.
๐Ÿ”ฅ
Completely douse fires with water, pack all visible fire waste/debris (burnt wood and charcoal) out of the backcountry and dispose of it properly.

Big van, bigger landscape
๐Ÿš
The shuttles for Green River trips through Labyrinth and Stillwater canyons involve miles of twisty, bumpy, rutted dirt roads.
๐Ÿš
Our vans and trailers are specially equipped to handle the drive, and all of our drivers have done the trip hundreds of times.
๐Ÿš
The scenery is hard to beat, too
