Wow. What a game last night but the Lady Leopards season comes to an abrupt end in a pk shootout.
The Leopards took a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the game off a beautiful shot into the upper right corner from about 30 yards out by Madelyn Bell after receiving a pass from her sister Catherine. The rest of the 1st half was quite a chess match and neither team had many opportunities and the half ended 1-0 secured buy a great save by Ema Bacon on a penalty kick.
Northside Methodist came out hungry in the 2nd half and with 30 minutes left in the game, broke free on a break away and slotted home a goal to tie it 1-1. The chess match continued and neither team could capitalize, ending regulation in a 1-1 tie.
Through 2 5 minute overtime periods, the Leopards were the aggresor but could not find the net. So a shootout decided the final outcome and the Northside keeper saved the Leopards final attempt to seal the victory.
Madelyn Bell 1 Goal
Catherine Bell 1 Assist
Ema Bacon 11 Saves

-50 goals scored in 15 games (an all time high)
-Competitive in every match, even against 6a & 7a schools.
-1st time in who knows how long to finish with a record above .500
The Leopards will be back as they look to keep building on their recent success. Thank you to Senior Madison Lee for her commitment to the soccer program over the years and we all wish you success in your future with University of Mobile.

Area match tonight at Bayshore for the Ladies (boys has been rescheduled).
Starting as they normally do, controlling pace and possession, but having trouble finding the back of the net, Bayshore got lose and put one in about 11 minutes in for the 1-0 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, the ball was tapped back to Madelyn Bell who sent a beautiful ball over the top of Bayshore's defense that her sister Catherine chased down and finished beautifully to tie the game 1-1.
The Leopards came out stronger in the second half but the Bayshore defense would not give up a decent shot. 10 minutes into the second half, Madelyn Bell curled a corner kick into the goal that surprised everyone to give the Leopards a 2-1 lead.
30 more minutes of back and forth action but neither team could find the back of the net thanks to a couple of great saves by Ema Bacon, and the Leopards hold on for a 2-1 victory and sole possession of 1st place in the area.
Next up, another area rivalry match against Cottage Hill at Mobile Christian Tuesday April 7.

What a week for Lady Leopard Soccer.
Tuesday 7A Daphne traveled to mobile. After a valiant, controlled effort in the 1st half and down only 1-2, the skill and athleticism of daphne took over in the second as they pulled away to win 1-6. The Leopards record falls to 3-4-1 but 3 losses to competitive 7A teams and 1 to a really good 6A Hazel Green.
Tonight, Bayshore came to town to for the Leopards 1st area match and wow, what a match it was.

Bayshore equalized on a free kick that bounced off a Leopard with about 5 minutes left. Regulation ended 4-4. This one went to extra time.
After a scoreless 1st 5:00 overtime, about halfway through the 2nd OT period, off shear effort, Madison L (the lone senior on Senior Night) stepped in to win a ball to get get it to Madelyn B. Madelyn snuck it just past the Bayshore keeper for her 2nd goal and the game winning Golden Goal. Lady Leopards win! What a finish.
