The biggest mistakes we see in youth and high school athletics is confusing playing more games with developing more as an athlete.

An athlete has a job away from the field:

EAT. LIFT. SLEEP. REPEAT.

Too many athletes—and sometimes parents—have an inherent fear of missing out. Another tournament. Another showcase. Another game. Another opportunity to be seen.

But what are we actually afraid of missing?

Because while you’re worried about missing one weekend of games, you may be missing the most important part of development.

Athletes need time to get stronger, gain quality weight, become more explosive, recover, and develop physically. That doesn’t happen by playing games every weekend of the year.

Games are important. Competition is important. But games are where you use the athlete you’ve built. The weight room, kitchen, practice field, and bedroom are where you build that athlete.

Eat enough quality food to grow.

Train with purpose and progressively get stronger.

Sleep enough to recover and adapt.

Then go compete.

Development isn’t measured by how many games you can fit into a calendar.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for an athlete’s future is give them enough time away from competition to actually develop.

WEEKEND WRAP-UP | GHOST RUNNERS BASEBALL

A great opening weekend for our 9U and 10U Ghost Runners!

9U GHOST RUNNERS | SILVER 🥈

What a way to start the season! Our 9U boys battled all weekend and finished 2nd in their very first tournament together, bringing home some hardware.

For the first time stepping between the lines as a team, these boys competed, played for each other, and showed a lot of promise. This is just the beginning.

10U GHOST RUNNERS | SEMIFINALS

Our 10U squad put together a strong weekend of their own and battled all the way into the semifinals, where they fell just short in extra innings.

A tough way to finish, but a lot of positives to take away from their first tournament together.

For both teams, this weekend was about more than wins and losses. It was their first opportunity to compete together between the lines, learn each other, and start building their identity as a team.

There’s plenty of work ahead, but we’re excited to watch these groups continue to develop and progress throughout the fall season.

One more sleep till opening day for the 9u and 10u. Can’t wait to these dudes between the lines!
