Late post, but this one deserves it.

Last weekend at HYROX Washington D.C., Chris Moorer did something he's been chasing for almost a year. He hit 1:10.

His first race was 1:17. Since then, every training block we wrote at Centerline started with his numbers. Finish times. Station splits. Run times. We studied what the data said, found the gaps, and evolved the plan from there. Centerline built the training. Chris showed up and executed it relentlessly.

He did it on a hamstring that wasn't 100%.
Then he went back out the same weekend and raced men's doubles with his son Christopher, who also trains with us. 1:08. Then a men's relay with his team. 1:01.

Three races. One weekend. No excuses.
Proud of both of you. This is what it looks like when the plan is honest and the athlete doesn't flinch.

Last call. The Engine challenge starts tomorrow.

Six weeks, coached, $199, and the group is capped.

If you have been thinking about it all week, this is the last evening it is still a decision.

Season is underway, which is the part of the year where a lot of young athletes stop training and just play.

We keep ours in the gym through it. Speed and change of direction work, plus the strength that keeps a knee stable when a cut goes wrong. Enough that they keep building, light enough that it does not steal from practice.

Ages 12 to 18, soccer, volleyball, baseball and track. If you coach a team, we will run your whole roster through a free baseline testing session on an off day and you keep the report.

Watch the bottom of Chloe's reps. The bar taps the floor and comes straight back up.

That is touch and go, and it is on purpose. The bar never fully unloads, so the muscle stays under tension for the whole set, which is what you want when the goal is size.

If we were chasing a bigger one-rep max, she would set the bar down and start every rep from a dead stop. No bounce, and every rep starts from the hardest position there is.

Same lift, two jobs. Which one you pick depends on what you are training for.

Nobody gets their first pull-up by doing pull-ups badly for six months.

Four steps, in the order we actually use them. Hang until you can hold position. Row under a bar you can set to any angle. Own the top and lower slowly. Then use a band to get real reps in.

Swipe for the detail. Save it for the next time you are standing under a bar wondering where to start.

He did not decide what he was doing on Wednesday afternoon. That was written before he walked in.

Pull-ups, a squat with chains on the bar, good mornings, and single-leg work to finish. The order matters, and so does what got left out. Somebody looked at what he did last week and what he is training for before any of it went on paper.

That is the part people are actually paying for when they hire a coach.

One week out. Our 6-week Engine challenge starts Monday, September 14, and the group is capped.

$199 for all six weeks. The sessions are written before you get there and a coach is on the floor watching your sets. HYROX style work, so running, rowing, sleds and carries alongside the strength.

You do not have to be fit first, and you do not have to want to race anything. Finish the six weeks and you keep the rate you locked in on day one.

Coach Lex did Saturday's HYROX class with the rest of them.

Sandbag lunges down the turf. Dumbbells. Then the rower. She leads this class most weeks and still gets the sets in, which is the fastest way to find out whether a workout actually works.

This one is for coaches rather than parents.

Bring your team to us on an off day and we will run the whole roster through a speed and change of direction baseline. You keep the report. Where every athlete ranks on your own roster, and a flag on the kids whose movement is putting them at higher injury risk this season.

No cost, and it takes none of your practice time, which was the point of building it this way.

DM us TEAM and we will find a day that works. Athletes 12 to 18, Mobile, AL.
