It's not that calories don't count on Thanksgiving. It's that hopefully your emotional and social health took priority. Happy Thanksgiving!
Some fitness content is so bad it's hard to tell if it is accidental uninformed/contextual information or intentionally preying on people.
Fitness plans can be super simple or insanely complex, but should always seek as little work as possible to achieve maximum results.
"Cardio goes after lifting because you don't want to lift with bad form." This is short sighted. Running, cycling, rowing, ect all are skills. The order depends or your goals, but technique should never be sacrificed
I feel like I stay fairly humble in my knowledge around fitness.I am a certified personal trainer. I dont pretend to be an expert in nutrition(avoid, in fact), high level performance or anything medical, and I do try to educate myself how certain concepts or practices can apply and whom they might benefit in what scenario.
But when I flip through insta and see some of the workout programming, the nutritional information, and super shortsighted tips.... look, you won't find me yelling praise for myself on top of a mountain. BUT I AM BETTER THAN THAT! I really do feel like I could be valuable to a good amount of people and with so much bad information being spread around I am starting to feel an obligation to spread better information, or at least combat the bad.
If you are looking for fitness advice, please reach out. If I don't know Ill try to get you to someone who I trust. But please 🙏 don't let 1 more Insta-trainer tell you that you can spot reduce fat, "this exercise is the best, only do this," or to only eat "X" amount of calories every day.

You don't need to justify your unhealthy habits. We all have some. Your life is yours and you live how you see fit. But also.... dont make excuses for them. Its unnecessary.
It can be very hard to accept your current fitness plan isn't working. Change workout structure, raise or lower calories, focus more on sleep or mobility. Self awareness and acceptance to change is hard, but almost always necessary.
Community workout (runner)
Run a 5k for time OR 2x 1.5 mile (75-80% of 5k effort) if you did a race on Thanksgiving
Community workout: (strength)
Warmup/prime 5-10 min (mandatory: include pvc good mornings)
Work to a heavy deadlift. Long rests take 2-3 sets to get to working weight, 10-15 min
Deadlift 4x6 rest 3-5 min
Trx row 2x 12-15 slow
Mobility/stretch 10 min
The highest performing version of yourself is probably not your best version. High performing athletes may excel in sport, but lack in physical, mental, social health or more. What might you excel at, and what did you lose to get there?
