Hutchens Family Racing

A long night at woodleaf raceway park but the weather held out and we got to run. Thank you all the staff for allowing us to run.
Jayce, Copeland, Davis, and Brysen took there turn tonight at the leaf. Started pretty good after strong showing and right air pressure adjustments during practice. The handling was on point. Once the track came in during the first runs of qualifying we seen real quick we needed more gearing. About 8:30 the dew point hit hard and put me in a guessing game with air pressures. 1st time I've been to Woodleaf and actually had the dew point hit early. During the last runs of qualifying the karts were slideways through the corners. Once that was offer the slick shiny track left us with 5th, 6th, and 19th respectively.
After the drivers meeting the crowd of juicebox karts took there turn around the leaf and it was a dog fight from the start. HFR was represented by Copeland Whitney and Jayce Hutchens and they both had a great time navigating through the traffic. We are so proud of them. They finished 2nd and 10th.
Davis Whitney had his feature and we were really optimistic after the gear change but as soon as the green flag waved a loose throttle cable would cause our hopeful night to go sour fast. Sometimes things just happen but man this great guy deserves a good break.
Brysen Godbey had 2 races tonight and with the double files start get bottled up in the 1st race and loose his track position. He fought hard to get spots back but could come out in 9th after all the jostling for position. Came back in we made a small air pressure adjustment and a gear change and that kart was a rocket in race #2. Just needed a caution to get back up to the leaders and it looked like we might get it as there was a spin in turn 3 coming to 2 laps to go but the flagman held the flag off and the race continued. 5th wasn't bad but wouldve loved to see what he had with everyone bunched up.
Hey we had a good time on a short track Friday night under the lights and we got to go home in 1 piece. I am proud of the team for the effort. Thank you to Rayne for all her help tonight and thank you to Aaron for the help tonight.

The kiddos stole the spotlight again.
Jayce has no problem winning unlike his poor dad.
Copeland made her first start and ran a solid 2nd behind Jayce. Also making her dad jealous.
We both wish we could be kids again and run with them. Just maybe...... we could keep up. I'M NOT SURR THOUGH. They are both fast. It's cool watching them grow and seeing how much fun they have with it. We are proud of both of them
But with the help of Davie Major Appliance Repair Yellow Butterfly Home Care LLC and Poulsen’s Lawn Maintenance LLC we would learn the ways of the treaded clones at Woodleaf Raceway Park Jarette Hutchens and Davis Whitney running clone 360. We both have some work to do but we are starting the get somewhat of a notebook on a track I've only raced at now 2 times and Davis with tonight being his first start at Woodleaf.
Brysen Godbey ran 2 races tonight in Ducar where he would start p3 in the 1st race and lead all but the last lap to come home 2nd. In race 2 he would qualify p7 and rally up to 2nd to chase the leader down and would fade late to finish 6th. So proud of Brysens efforts tonight, he's gonna get that nect win pretty soon. I feel it.
Not a great night but a fun fast night. I want to thank everyone at Woodleaf for putting on a great night and getting all 17 classes done before midnight on a Friday. We enjoyed it and look forward to the nect trip there.

Unfortunately the BCRP race has been postponed due to weather but not to worry HFR will be represented tonight at Woodleaf Raceway Park.
