The human voice is a God-given instrument which can joyfully help us navigate through these strange times. These classes are based on North Indian Classical Vocal Music. All levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced. Yoga of Voice classes with Deepak Kumar will help you develop your singing voice, which will give you peace of mind and soul. Beneficial for all those who use their voice professionally, including actors, teachers and speakers, as well as musicians. Deepak will guide participants in meditative vocal exercises exploring raga and compositions.

Deepak Kumar Pareek is a light classical singer and composer from the state of Rajasthan, India. His music covers a wide spectrum of styles: ghazals (romantic poetry), bhajans (devotional songs), kirtan and classic film songs. Deepak first studied with his father, Shri P.N. Vyas, and later with Ustad R.F. Dagar, Ustad Moinuddin Khan and Shri Mohinderjit Singh. He has also been studying with Khayal classical singer Mrs. Kankana Banerjee, disciple of the legendary vocalist Ustad Amir Khan. Deepak is accomplished on several musical instruments including harmonium, tamboura, guitar and keyboard. He is co-director of the East-West School of Music at Ananda Ashram and as a faculty member teaches and performs regularly.

Yantras are ancient geometric diagrams used as tools for meditation, transformation, and connection with the subtle energies of the cosmos. Rooted in the ta***ic tradition each yantra embodies the essence of a deity and serves as a gateway to deeper states of awareness. In this hands on course, students will be guided by Mavis through the selection, construction and painting of a Goddess Yantra. This meditative art practice allows for an intimate connection with Sacred Geometry, color, symbolism, and mantra.

We will focus on yantras associated with powerful Goddesses such as Kali, Sarasvati, Durga, Tara, and Laksmi.

Students will not only learn the meaning and purpose of each yantra but also how to activate and integrate it into their lives.

No prior artistic experience is necessary, only a willingness to explore and engage with the sacred through color, form, and inner stillness.

After registration a list of required materials will be sent to you.

Mavis Gewant is a sacred artist and devoted student of Sri Harish Johari, specializing in the creation of Yantras and Mandalas. An expert in Yantras, she also studies Vedic Astrology (Jyotish). Mavis teaches sacred painting worldwide and leads annual retreats in India .

Joan Suval was a founding member of Ananda Ashram and a senior disciple of Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati. She dedicated her life to the teachings of Yoga and Vedanta, offering meditations and programs at Ananda Ashram, in New York City and at other national and international locations for over fifty years. Joan left her body on April 24, 2020.

Happy Ganesha Chaturthi to all friends!
This is a very special day for us. Chanting to Ganesha, especially on this day, is powerful for the removal of obstacles. Also on this day in 1993, according to the Indian calendar, our Guruji - Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati left his body. We will be celebrating both of these events tomorrow Monday, September 14 with meditation and chanting in the shrine @ 10 AM preceded @ 9 AM by morning fire ceremony.
Evening program will be fire ceremony @ 7 PM followed @ 7:45 with a musical offering by Deepak Kumar.
