Hi! I’m a fitness forward ortho pelvic floor physical therapist, pregnancy & postpartum athleticism coach & mom of 4.

Working with women through pregnancy & postpartum is my jam but I also enjoy working with active individuals & women of all ages! After personally experiencing injuries that affected her ability to enjoy life, participate in activities and move without pain, Katie began to expand her knowledge and practice even more. Katie uses her experience to discuss lifestyle factors in addition to movement dy

I enjoyed chatting with Nick today - turns out he went to school with my husband, small world! I love what he’s doing with the Shop Monroe First movement and am excited to be a part of it!

🚨 SMF BREAKING NEWS 🚨

It’s officially time to welcome our NEXT Shop Monroe First Preferred Small Business Vendor MOVE Physical Therapy and Dr. Katie Bacarella. In my opinion, I left the meeting feeling great about Dr. Katie and the great passion and energy she brings to our SMF Family. This message below is from Dr. Katie herself 🏃‍♀️👇

“MOVE Physical Therapy was started to provide a more personalized approach to physical therapy — one that helps people truly understand their bodies, stay active, and get back to doing what they love. We work with active adults, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and busy parents dealing with pain, injuries, mobility limitations, or performance goals. Our goal is to treat the root cause, not just the symptoms, through one-on-one care focused on movement, strength, and long-term results.

We also specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy, supporting women during pregnancy and postpartum with concerns like pelvic pain, core weakness, leaking, and returning safely to exercise and everyday life after childbirth. Whether someone wants to get back to the gym, keep up with their kids, or simply move through life with less pain and more confidence, we’re passionate about helping our community feel stronger and healthier.”

I took 240 # for ride today for 4 reps. It felt smooth and good. Also the heaviest I’ve lifted in a while.

Had a couple cancellations in my schedule today so I took advantage of midday barbell class. What a great class and group today!

Best part was watching others hit new 1RMs, lift heavy and little kids at the gym watching their moms be strong. I love that example we’re setting for the new generation.

Kitchen is a mess.
Making dinner.
Folding laundry on totes of hand-me downs that need to be gone through.
Crawling baby underfoot getting into the cabinets.
Toddler playing with play doh at the kitchen table.

Trying to do 5 things at once with a million things running through my head.

Drop a ❤️ or any emoji if you can relate.

Barefoot or minimalist shoes are definitely becoming more of a thing in the fitness space. So what makes a barefoot shoe a barefoot shoe?

Basically there are the 3 things that actually matter:

1️⃣ Anatomical toe box – Your toes should be able to spread. If the shoe squeezes them together, it’s not foot-friendly.
2️⃣ Flexible sole – Your foot should be able to bend, twist, and move naturally. If the sole is stiff, your foot muscles don’t have to work.
3️⃣ Zero drop – No heel lift. Your heel and forefoot should sit at the same height to support natural alignment.

Your feet were designed to move, stabilize, and adapt. The right shoe simply lets them do their job.

Stronger feet = better balance, better lifts, better runs, and a healthier pelvic floor from the ground up. 🙌

Do you wear barefoot shoes? If so, what kind?
