A rare update from the Storm Prediction Center puts nearly the entirety of the Lower Peninsula in a level 1 of 3 risk for the remainder of the day for FIRE weather conditions, minus southwest lower.
Yes, fire weather, not severe thunderstorms. Those severe thunderstorms are later tonight into tomorrow. Temperatures near 75°F, with humidity values below 30%, and gusty winds as high as 30 MPH could turn any small spark into an uncontrolled multi-acre fire. Red flag warnings remain in place for much of central and northern lower Michigan through 6 PM EDT.
We do not spend many days a year in fire weather conditions. Again, avoid burning/campfires, and other devices that could result in spark emissions.

Your city of Monroe firefighters from A-shift were busy this morning assisting Monroe Township Fire-Rescue Department on a working building fire. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and keep it to the fire apartment where it started.

There is an Enhanced Risk for severe weather over Southeast Michigan today into this evening. Damaging wind and heavy rainfall will be the main threats along with a risk of tornadoes. Stay weather aware today, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be ready to act if a warning is issued.

We would like to congratulate FF Rayle on obtaining his NREMT and state of Michigan paramedic license. Over the last 18 months FF Rayle has spent appx 2000 hours between being in school and clinical time in obtaining his license. Job well done FF Rayle

This morning your C-shift firefighters had an odd call for service, we had a deer stuck in a local fence. We were able to successfully free the deer without any additional injury.
