We found a sprinkler during todayās 𤣠It seemed to inspire a little extra movement and a little extra freedom.
It kind reminded me of a video of our girls sliding down a slip and slide a few years ago. Iāll try to find and share that video again soon.

Ike (our 13-year-old) accepted Nanaās challenge to join this year. She said sheād sponsor him with a donation every day he moves for 30 minutes. Heās an now and determined to keep moving every day. My hope is always that my kids know that theyāre also part of the family, and itās fun that itās more tangible this month. Thanks for always inspiring people to show up.
Iāll add Ikeās name to the list of drop downs at movementforfreedom.com so those of you who feel inspired can join my mom in your support of him and make a difference in the lives of our girls at MRH!

A quilt is made of many pieces ā different colors, different textures, different stories ā stitched together into something that holds you.
The quilting circle at St. John Lutheran Church in Abingdon, VA, has given each of our girls something rare for years. The newest girls got theirs this week. š„¹ Something to call only their own. Made by hand. Given with love. Stitched with the kind of care that says: you belong here. You are held.
We are so grateful for this support.
Thatās what Creator Catalysts do. They make things that carry meaning further than words can go . . . art that stitches people together and says to someone who needs it: you are seen. You are worth someoneās time and care.
If you create, your art is a catalyst too. Join the movement at movementforfreedom.com šØš„
RIP to our volleyball, spiked so hard it split open. šš
It was spiked so hard into the scoreboard it split clean open. Weāre not even mad ā thatās commitment.
Enjoy this glimpse of joy with Omar and our girls, pumping up the replacement. And Elizabeth? She didnāt waste any time breaking it in.
This is Team MRH ā moving every day, showing up every day, and apparently destroying equipment in the process. š

Today I journeyed with two friends. Twists and turns and ups and downs around town. It struck me as we moved and shared about our lives that there are deep parallels between our own lives and the larger movement for freedom beyond our individual lives. Some of the twists and turns are unexpected. Some of the hard parts go on longer than we want or feel ready for. But when weāve got each other, we have encouragement and people who remind us to pace ourselvesā¦or friends whoāve ābeen thereā and can affirm that itās terrible at the moment, but it gets better and to have a little grace.
I find myself feeling a little anxious lately about the state of the world and the impact it might have on ⦠Iām not always forthcoming with my anxieties, but I was reminded today that sharing our angsts alongside our hopes is a good way to invite friends in so we donāt carry it all alone.
This is what I always hope weāre teaching and modeling for the girls at MRH. It is what I hope you know youāre supporting when you donate to š«¶

āThe Power of Showing Up.ā
That was the theme at this morningās South Pasadena Prayer Breakfast, and honestly, itās the heartbeat of everything weāre building at right now.
This morningās breakfast said everything Iāve been trying to say about our Neighbor track in Movement for Freedom. A room full of people committed to being present . . . in prayer, in generosity, near and far.
Weāre so grateful My Refuge House was seen and supported here again this year alongside so many other incredible organizations.
Showing up is a spark too. If thatās yours ā link in bio. š„

Yesterday I moved the way instructed. Today my body said slow down ā and Iām listening. š
So today Iām showing up as a Neighbor. A Catalyst whose spark today looks like stillness, prayer, and holding the girls and my coworkers at My Refuge House in my heart.
Iāve been sitting with this prayer by Miriam Therese Winter all day. āI am the Refuge of all who weep. I am the Mother of all who live.ā If youāve been following and wondering if thereās a place for you that doesnāt involve running shoes or aching knees, this is it.
Will you pray with me today? For the girls in Cebu who are healing. For the staff who love them. For the movement thatās growing around them.
Three tracks. One movement. Your spark doesnāt have to look the same every day. š„
