I retired from working for other people at 25.
Best decision I ever made.

Seventeen years later I’ve raised a family, bought a home, and helped take care of them, through my businesses.

No boss. No ceiling. No permission.

None of it was easy. I made the decision and I stayed with it, even when staying was the hardest part.

I control my schedule. I control my income. And most importantly — I control my time.

Seventeen years ago people thought I was crazy for choosing this over a 9-to-5.

What they didn’t see were the obstacles — the kind most people would never want to face, let alone survive. I faced all of them.

This morning I was reminded why it was worth it.

I took the second-to-last back-to-school picture I’ll ever take with my son. Seventeen years of drop-offs. Seventeen years of catching every moment. And after this, I have one year left.

Entrepreneurs — if you’ve built a business but you have no time to make memories, what you built isn’t freedom. It’s a restricted job.

Choose wisely before it’s too late.

Don’t let your business die with you.

When I started at 25, I wasn’t trying to build something big. I was trying to build something that outlasted me.
I always noticed the people who said “my grandfather started this” or “this has been in my family three generations.” I wanted that for my children. I wanted my work to keep feeding them long after I couldn’t.

That’s why I franchised. Not for the growth — for the inheritance.

Business owners, hear me: you keep pushing this off until next year, until you’re bigger, until it feels like the right time. There is no right time. The right time is the moment you start thinking about it.

Because if you don’t extend your brand beyond yourself, your family is left with nothing but the memory of how hard you worked.

When you’re no longer here — will your brand still be?
