Here are two of my favorite low risk Judo takedowns for Jiu Jitsu. Save and share with a training partner you can drill with.
1) Inside kouchi
2) Inside kouchi to an ankle pick
When the initial kouchi isn’t successful, the ankle pick is a good follow up to secure the takedown.
Jiu Jitsu FLO
Empowering individuals through Jiu Jitsu movements, techniques and lifestyle. Jiu Jitsu black belt🥷
Use it as a warm up before training or home exercise to help improve your movement skills.
Notice the opposite movements and how the breath guides you through.
“Go with the Flo”
Use this flow as a fun way to test your movement skills while connecting to your breath.
If you’ve been in my classes the past few weeks, you know we’ve been working foot sweeps. They’re a great way to off balance your opponent and combine upper and lower body takedowns. Happy to be able to implement a few yesterday.
I had a great time competing at and . Both put on great events 🙏🏼
It’s always interesting watching people with different grappling backgrounds transition into Jiu Jitsu. Caden is a high level Greco wrestler, new to Jiu Jitsu, with very little guard passing knowledge or experience. I couldn’t help but laugh and give props when he uses a slide by to pass my seated guard directly into mount.
Is this a legit technique or a one hit wonder?
Here’s one of my favorite flows to loosen up the spine in the morning. It’s a sun salutation that gets the spine working in flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation.
If you’re a Jiu Jitsu practitioner, go through this a few times each morning and see how it feels.
It’s not sexy, but being able to maintain top mount (any variation) against a strong/versatile opponent is an important skill.
I highly recommend working this skill on a weekly basis.
