We have some unfortunate news to share — Monterey Skates will not be moving forward at the Del Monte Shopping Center. 💔
It would have been one of the fanciest roller skating rinks in the country, but in the end the space simply didn't have the restrooms (or water credits) to convert from retail to a high-traffic skating venue. Federal Realty and the City of Monterey both went above and beyond trying to find a path forward — sometimes the math just doesn't work.
But we're not done yet. 🛼 We have a few promising leads on other spaces and we're actively exploring them. Lesson learned: don't announce anything until the ink is dry on the permits! 😅
🧺 P.S. — We have a laundry basket of lost & found items from the Fairgrounds, including a pair of inline skates someone left behind! DM us if you think something might be yours.
Thank you for rolling with us. This isn't the end of the story — just a plot twist. 💜

Only three spots left for our Saturday morning kids lesson at noon, but we can squeeze a few more in if you contact us before (especially if they’re not totally new to skating). We have plenty of spots left in our adult lesson, which has been moved to Saturday morning at 11am (from Sunday). This is because a few weekends we’re not open on Sunday and wanted to keep a consistent time for the adult lesson. After the adult lesson, learners can continue to practice during the kids lesson, and everyone can stay for the Saturday afternoon Family Skate at 1pm!
