Old friend / parent of a former gymnast of mine sent me this today. It’s my home gym in Kansas.

I needed it.

It reminded me that behind each of those flags is a lifetime of hardwork, commitment, drive, hard times and perseverance.

I reminded me that I stayed in the sport to coach girls with similar dreams of collegiate gymnastics.
To help steer them and their parents in the right direction. To avoid the wrongs of the sport and provide a positive environment for the dreamers.

Exposure to collegiate sports is inspiring. Let’s change the numbers and keep our kids in the sport, studying their craft, perfecting their trade and creating a path to higher education.

My Mom and Dad never missed a meet in my whole career. It was their support and exposure to Mizzou Gymnastics that inspired my career.

It took a village.
