🏁 DAYTONA DIXIE SHOOTOUT ROUND 3 RECAP 🏁
What a weekend at Daytona! Overall, it was a solid showing for our camp, and we could not be more proud of the determination, grit, and heart both of our boys displayed all weekend long.
For only the second time ever, Brextyn locked himself into both Junior A-Mains at a Dixie Shootout race, and Brody brought home another podium finish while not feeling 100%. We aren't exactly sure what was going on, but despite not feeling his best, he never quit, never complained, and continued to give it everything he had. That's something to be proud of all by itself.
Friday morning we unloaded 7 cars from the trailer, including our buddy Knox's rides. Thankfully, we had an incredible support system beside us every step of the way. Racing truly takes a village, and we are incredibly grateful for every family member, friend, crew member, and supporter who helped make this weekend possible.
🔥 Brextyn - Jr. Honda
🏁 Heat Race: Started 1st - WON
🏁 A Main: Started 5th - Finished 2nd
What a weekend for Brextyn! He drove a clean, smooth, and mature race all day long. He avoided trouble, hit his marks, stayed patient, and was rewarded with a fantastic runner-up finish. It's been amazing to watch his confidence continue to grow this season. Every time he hits the track, he's giving maximum effort and believing more in himself. We couldn't be prouder.

🏁 A Main: Started 4th - Finished 4th
This one started with some adversity. During practice, a few cars got tangled up and Brextyn attempted to avoid the incident, but unfortunately made contact with a stopped car, embedding the right-side nerf bar into the tire and ending practice early. 😲
Being the only XS Talon team at the track meant nobody had spare parts, but we got to work and made the repairs quickly.
Brextyn went out in the heat race and drove forward for another strong finish. In the main event, cooler track temperatures created some intense racing on the starts. Unfortunately, Brextyn got spun, went DOT, and was sent to the rear. Instead of hanging his head, he charged back through the field and came up just one car length short of a podium finish. The growth we've seen from him this year has been incredible.

🏁 Heat Race: Started 4th - Finished 2nd
🏁 B Main: Started 1st - WON
🏁 A Main: Started 7th - Finished 3rd
Brody put together a phenomenal run in Sr. Honda. After finishing runner-up in his heat race behind his buddy Roo, he still found himself heading to the B Main. No problem. He went out and dominated the race, earning a transfer into the A.
Once in the feature, Brody methodically worked his way forward and grabbed another podium finish, coming home 3rd behind his buddy Brayden Ickler.
One of the things Brody was most excited about as he closes out his Junior career was getting the chance to race against Roo and Brayden again. Those two were racing with him during his very first full year in Juniors, and they've always been racers he looks up to and respects. Sharing the track with them again made these podiums, even more special.

🏁 Heat Race: Started 6th - Finished 3rd
🏁 A Main: Started 6th - Finished 7th
This class was a struggle throughout the day. Between Brody not feeling 100% and the car just not responding the way we needed it to, something felt off from the beginning.
After having the front end completely destroyed in Huntsville, we were hoping for a redemption weekend. While Brody still managed to lock directly into the A Main, he climbed out of the car frustrated because he knows what he's capable of behind the wheel. Sometimes racing humbles you and sends you back to the shop searching for answers. We'll regroup and get back after it.

🏁 Heat Race: Started 2nd - Finished 4th
🏁 C Main: Started 3rd - Finished 4th
🏁 B Main: Started 10th - Finished 6th
This one definitely stings.
After getting spun in the heat race, the chain came off and we had to make repairs in the pits. While we salvaged a decent finish, it dropped us into the C Main.
Brody transferred through the C and headed to the B Main, but unfortunately the racing luck just wasn't there. Between multiple spins, one of our own and another involving contact from another car, he had to repeatedly fight his way back through the field. He worked his way into a transfer position late in the race but lost it with only a few laps remaining and came up just short of advancing. Some days in racing don't go your way, but those are often the weekends where the biggest lessons are learned.
At the end of the weekend, 4 out of 5 cars made the A-Mains, and 2 of them brought home podium finishes! 🏆🏆
Would we have loved to bring home one of those awesome Round 3 Dixie trophies? Absolutely. But racing is about so much more than trophies.
It's about learning how to overcome adversity when things don't go your way. It's about building friendships that last a lifetime. It's about showing respect, owning your mistakes, helping others when they need it, celebrating the success of your competitors, and continuing to work hard when nobody is watching.
Every race weekend gives these kids an opportunity to become better drivers, but more importantly, better people. If they grow up learning how to be kind, humble, respectful, hardworking, and supportive of those around them, then we've already won the biggest race of all.
