🤍 Plyometrics 🤍

A lot of people hear the word plyometrics and picture athletes jumping onto boxes. But the truth is, plyometric training can be incredibly beneficial for older adults when it’s customized to their abilities and goals.

As we age, we naturally lose muscle power, balance, and reaction time. Those changes can make everyday things like stepping off a curb, catching yourself if you trip, or climbing stairs more challenging. That’s where the right exercises can make a real difference. 💪

At ADAPT, we incorporate age-appropriate plyometric movements into personalized training programs to help improve dynamic power, coordination, and balance.

The benefits can include:
✔️ Better balance and stability
✔️ Faster reaction time to help prevent falls
✔️ Increased leg strength and power
✔️ Greater confidence moving through daily life
✔️ Improved independence and quality of life

No two people move the same, which is why no two workouts should be the same. Every exercise is tailored to your current fitness level, health history, and personal goals, so you can build strength safely and continue doing the things you love.

Too 3 go to exercises to warm up the shoulder prior to pressing or pulling workouts. ⬇️

These are perfect for those experiencing pain or limitations in the shoulder that lead to decreased performance on pushing or pulling exercises.

We need to make sure the shoulders can handle the weight you move on your push/pull days.

Congrats to our incredible Client of the Month: Mike Baker!💪

Mike has been training with us for almost two years, and his results say it all.

He's stronger, his shoulder and back pain are gone, and he keeps showing up with a great attitude every week.

When we asked him what advice he'd give someone who's just getting started, he said, "Work hard and don't quit."

That's exactly what Mike has done.

Congratulations, Mike! We're grateful you're part of the ADAPT community and can't wait to see what's next.

“My hamstrings are SO tight.”

That usually means they’re not “overworked”… they’re under-trained. 😏

Tight muscles are often weak muscles trying to hold on for dear life. So stretching alone isn’t the fix—you’ve got to load them.

If you want hamstrings that actually feel better and perform better, here’s what to do…

You can’t out-train bad sleep.💤

You can show up to the gym. Push through the workout. Follow the plan. But if your sleep is off, your body feels it everywhere.

Sleep is when your muscles recover, your hormones reset, and your brain processes stress. Without enough of it, strength drops, cravings go up, and recovery slows down—even if your effort stays the same.

It also impacts motivation. One bad night can make everything feel harder the next day, from your warm-up to your last rep.

Good training doesn’t just happen in the gym. It happens when you’re asleep, fully recovering, and giving your body the time it needs to rebuild.

If your progress feels stuck, it might not be your workout. It might be your sleep.
