Yesterday was probably the last soarable day in 2025. Max. altitude gain was 3275’ msl, and had to work hard at it! Coasting in for a landing late in the afternoon at our Swan Creek Airport.

Returning to land at Swan Creek Airport just before sunset on Oct 24th after a 3hr flight up to 5,700 feet AGL.

We are officially back in the air soaring SN 16 and SN17! I purchased Swan Creek Airport, 78A, back in 2022, and have been very busy building a house and hangar there. Tim Snow and I can now keep our Archy’s rigged and ready for flight anytime conditions are good. This should increase our airtime and experience exponentially!

But, we need some assistance from the Archaeopteryx owners worldwide: We have a failed Gen 2 battery charger and a failed Gen 2 throttle control unit. Those owners who have converted to Gen 3 may have some unused Gen 2 components we desperately need to keep our ships flying. Please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks,
Holliday Obrecht

Great News!

Silly Buzzards - Guy Snow's 118.3 mi watersport 09/18/2017

These Vultures are really cool! I was just having a play on words on my Strava account. I wonder if we should install horns on our gliders? A horn works well in the car where vultures are in the middle of the road and they are too focused on eating roadkill to get out of the way. It would really catch them off guard hearing a car approaching when they are a mile up in the air. Strava needs to expand their activity dropdown. There is nothing in the pick-list for hang gliding or other aviation activities. Clicking on the photo will bring up the activity in Strava which is logged data from the flight. Similar to OnLineContest, but there is also additional data in addition to GPS track and altitude. There is ground speed and also heart rate, since I was wearing my heart rate monitor strap. Heart rates really do settle down over the course of the flights. Higher at the beginning and higher at the end, but the big spikes are pre-flight and post-flight physical activities, getting in and out of the cockpit, etc. Mileage shown in Strava is just that, so every little circle adds up!

Silly Buzzards - Guy Snow's 118.3 mi watersport Funny how these fowl mouthed buzzards think they are better than me. They kept coming over, and getting in the way while trying to keep up with me. I left them like road kill, giving them a taste of their own medicine. These vultures are too cheap to get a Strava account, so there's no way to view t...

A great way to relax but to also to stay focused on squeezing the most energy possible out of what's thrown your way. The Archaeopteryx does all the flying with very little effort from the pilot. Brain energy is about all that's really needed and I wish I had a lot more of that!

Triple Tree Aerodrome

Photos from Archaeopteryx USA's post 09/18/2017

Another great weekend at Triple Tree. It just doesn't get much better than this! Between the two of us we got 11-12 hours of flight time.
