Welcome SCARLETT HAUGE of Rocori to Cobber Distance! 👏
This track season Scarlett dropped almost 3 seconds off her 400m to run her PR of 1:05.07 at sections! Scarlett has great range as she has also run 2:31 for 800 and 5:47 for the 1600, as well as 20:25 for 5k XC.
“I chose Concordia because I come from a long line of cobbers so it feels like home. I’m most excited to meet new people and experience running as a college student.”
Scarlett will major in Business, sing in the Concordia choir, and will run both XC and Track & Field!

Welcome GENET BACKMAN to Cobber Distance!!
Genet just finished up her season at the State Meet! She helped her 4x8 relay qualify for State by placing 2nd at the Section 7A championships. Genet ran PRs this season in the 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200!! She dropped 7 seconds off her 800m to run 2:33.

Welcome TAYLEN SCHERMERHORN of Bemidji to Cobber Track & Field! 🌽
Taylen ran PRs in every event this season: 11.01 in the 100m, 22.18 in the 200m, and 51.65 in the 400m! He dropped over a second of his 200m and almost THREE seconds of his 400m this year.
“I chose Concordia because they have great schooling and sports facilities. I am also a 5th generation cobber. I’m excited to race and make new friends and experience college sports.”
Taylen is going to major in computer science, because he enjoys coding and creating!

Welcome DEAGAN WEATHERHOLT of Litchfield to Cobber THROWS!!
Deagan has thrown 144’-3” in the discus and placed 8th at the 2025 Section 5A Championships. This season, he threw a PR of 45’6” in the shot put and placed 9th at the 2026 Section 5A Championships.
Hear from Deagan: “I chose Concordia for their amazing music program, great staff, and the opportunity to be involved in so many different activities.
I’m super excited to finally take classes that I’m actually interested in, I’m also excited to be able to compete at the collegiate level as a thrower.
I plan to major in music education. I got interested in this field because I knew I wanted to have an impact on people’s lives, and I have always been very involved and passionate about music my whole life. I thought that becoming a music teacher best connected those two values.”

Welcome GAIGE KNISLEY of New London, MN to Concordia!!
Gaige just threw a discus PR of 146’6” to place 2nd at Section 5A to qualify for the State Meet!! We can’t wait to cheer him on at State this week!
“I chose Concordia because of the culture and the strong academic programs that it provides.
I’m excited to be part of the Concordia track and field team as I love competing in the sport and can’t wait to see my improvement.
I plan to major in either nursing or pre-med and follow in the footsteps of many siblings.”

Welcome DYLAN NYBERG of Cromwell, MN to Cobber Track & Field!
Dylan jumped a PR of 21’-8.5” last year, placed 2nd at Section 7A and went on to place 9th at the State Meet! He pursued his first year of college in Duluth, and we’re excited he’s transferring to Concordia! Dylan also comes in with a 52.16 400m PR and plans to focus on long jump and sprints.
“I chose Concordia for its great community around campus and the overall atmosphere of the area. I am excited to continue track as well as meet new people.”
Dylan will major in Biomedical Engineering, which he chose because of his uncle and how he will be able to help others.

Welcome FRANK GWION of Fargo South to Cobber Track & Field! 🌽
Frank has run cross country, hurdles, and sprints, and this year he cut over 2.5 seconds off his 400m PR to run 53.97! We’re excited to see what he does as a Cobber!!
“I chose Concordia because it felt like the right fit for my goals. A big factor was the chance to compete in track at a high level while getting a solid education in a great environment.
The thing I’m most hyped for is finally getting on campus and joining the Cobber family. I’m ready to start living more independently and meet my new teammates. For track, I’m locked in and ready to work with the coaches so I can shave time off my 400m and hurdles and really make an impact on the team.
I’m planning to major in Criminal Justice. I’ve always been interested in how investigations work and want a career where I can help people and give back to the community.”
