Our athletes did awesome today at the State Prelims! While no one advanced to day 2 finals, we had some really awesome results and are in school record territory for both the boys 4x100 and girls 4x400! Congrats to our 11 athletes who represented Mora today and all season. We already can’t wait for next year! 💪

Mora Track & Field showed up today at the Section 7AA Championship Finals! We want to give a huge shoutout to many of our seniors who ran their final races and competed in their final field events of their careers. We would also like to acknowledge our athletes who have qualified for the MSHSL State Tournament next weekend (Friday-Saturday June 5-6) at St. Michael Albertville. We are so excited to continue into post-season!

‼️ Record Alert‼️

Hanna Tilberg broke our school record from 2013 today in the 300 hurdles, running a blazing time of 46.44. This has been a long time coming- hard work pays off! She isn’t done yet and is looking to better that time at our Section Finals meet this Saturday. We are so proud of you, Hanna! 💪

Section Prelims Day 1- Mora Track & Field showed up today at Rock Ridge! We are so proud of the grit that our athletes showed and are coming back with so many new personal bests to bring into Saturday’s finals. These athletes are mentally and physically ready to give it all they’ve got Saturday. Some events were final today so here are the first medalists with hopefully lots more to come (top 2 go to state and top 8 medal).
Medalists Top 8:
Elin Olson, 6th place 3200
Alyza Fratzke, 8th place high jump
Macy Qual, 7th place high jump

STATE QUALIFIERS
*Mya Fix 2nd place high jump
*Jenna Lukenbill 5th place discus- Jenna got the automatic qualifying mark on her first throw. Unreal competition with 5 girls qualifying for state in discus!

Saturday’s Day 2 Final Qualifiers
100 hurdles- Hanna Tilberg
110 hurdles- Mason Koverman( #7 All-time now) and Makhi Lyman
100- Levi Doughty
400- Ella Yatckoske who set the 8th grade record today, running a 1:01.2! She is moving in fast on the school record and now the #2 All-time for Mora!
Macy Qual also rebroke her own 7th grade record running a 1:03.36, shaving off over 2 seconds. This also puts her officially on the top 10 list, at #8.
300 hurdles- Hanna Tilberg ***broke the school record*** from 2013 today and is now #1 All-Time for Mora! She ran a 46.44.
300 hurdles- Makhi Lyman( #6 All-time now)

The Last Chance Meet proved to be a success for our team, with many of our athletes using it as an opportunity to tune up for the Section Meet next week or even go for their lifetime best in an event they have worked at for years in some cases! Although it was a smaller meet with just Mora, Milaca, Little Falls, and Foley, there was plenty of competition for everyone to perform their best.

We had a grand total of 25 season bests and 21 lifetime PRs. We love celebrating our team’s success! Here are some of the most notable highlights from the meet:

Ada Halverson (senior) broke 6 minutes in the mile for the first time (5:56) with her teammate Elin Olson (5:54). Both earned their lifetime bests.

Four boys went under 5 in the mile: Charlie Kroschel, senior Aksel Olson, Henry Niskanen, and Anders Olson.

Charlie Kroschel (8th gr) now holds the 8th grade record in the 1600 with a 4:58!

Ella Yatckoske (8th gr) and Hanna Tilberg (junior) went 1-2 in the 400, both running 1:02. They are now #4 and #5 All-Time for Mora. Senior Bri Koch also earned her best time with a 1:06. All 3 will be members of our 4x400 next week with Macy Qual, who ran an impressive 1:05. Macy also broke the 800 record for 7th grade girls, running a 2:39. The previous record held for 20 years!

Other Senior shoutouts:
Ellia Kastenbauer earned her lifetime bests in long jump with a 14-4.
Dawson Smart ran a blazing fast 800, earning a 2:06 for his fastest ever and getting the win.
Dakota Harris in true Dakota fashion got 3 PRs in 400, 800, and long jump, making sure he could try every event this season.

Next week we will compete in Section 7AA Preliminaries May 27 at Rock Ridge High School, with Finals on May 30, and athletes fighting for their chance to earn a spot in the State Tournament. Stay tuned for meet information and updates. We can’t wait to end our season strong, and together!
