Being a dance mom is so much more than costumes, competitions, and recital nights.
It’s searching for the missing dance shoe while you’re already running late. It’s bobby pins everywhere, tights that snag at the worst possible time, and learning how to create the perfect bun under pressure.
It’s long practices, rushed dinners, makeup in the car, and quietly holding your breath from the moment the music starts.
But it’s also watching your child grow more confident with every step.
You see the hours behind the few minutes they spend onstage. You know the corrections they worked through, the routines they practiced until their body remembered them, and the days they showed up even when they felt tired or discouraged.
Then the curtain opens, the music begins, and there they are doing what they love.
In that moment, every rushed evening and every forgotten hairpin feels worth it.
Because being a dance mom isn’t only about watching them perform. It’s about having a front-row seat as they learn discipline, resilience, courage, and how to believe in themselves.
And I wouldn’t trade that seat for anything

Well this is what Cornfest Sunday looked like for us! I would like to take this opportunity to thank my teachers, parents, dancers and all of our many supporters for a great day. I appreciate each and every one of you

To the gentleman/dad who was with six little girls from another dance studio who were happily clapping for the Mueller’s School of Dance float as we passed, you told them, “Girls, stop clapping for them. They’re your competition.”

I’d simply like to say: Shame on you.

These children are not our competition. They are the kids our dancers go to school with, eat lunch with, play sports with, and grow up alongside. We have never competed against them at a dance competition.

Morris is fortunate to have three wonderful dance schools, and each one has something unique to offer. There is room for all of us. Find the studio that is the right fit for your family, and let’s teach our children to cheer each other on, celebrate one another, and be proud of the community we share.
