INTERVIEW WITH KREATURES DEFENSEMAN #28 STEVE GIBBS
The Kreatures Khronicle caught up with DMan #28 S Gibbs at his home behind the dumpster of the Morristown Rink.
Kreatures Khronicle: Gibbs, If I recall the Kreatures were trying to sign you up last summer, but the league wouldn’t allow it to do that because they had too much talent already on the team. But before you joined you played with some of the Kreatures players already in the draft leagues. Do you recall what players you played with prior to joining the team?
SG: Porta seems to always be following me around, I can't seem to get rid of this guy, actually starting to freak me out. If anyone sees this, please call 911 and send help
KK: The Kreatures are pretty much a new team. What made you join the Kreatures in the first place?
SG: Dubman and I connected pretty well at open hockey so he asked if I wanted to join. Timing was great because I was new in town and wanted to be on more teams to get acclimated with Motown. Made a lot of friends from this and I am very happy. Now I am able to ditch my south jersey hockey friends and save money on gas. Gas money over long term friends any day. If I ever move more than 30 min away from here, all of you will be dead to me as well.
KK: If I recall, you had a decision to make between two team when Doomsday went down to D4. Was that a hard decision for you? And what did you choose Kreatures over Doomsday?
SG: While Doomsday did bribe me with an FOP shield which I accepted, I decided to double cross them and join Kreatures. Napolitano did say he was going to break into my car and snap it in half, but I did not let this intimidate me. I held strong because there's more drunks on Kreatures. This makes me feel less guilty about how much I drink so it was an easy decision. Also I like to watch Kenny change in the locker room but not in a gay kind of way. Not that there would be anything wrong with that.
KK: The team has it’s up and downs the last two seasons, and before the league was halted, the team was on a two game winning streak. Do you think the Kreatures are able to jump start that up again once this epidemic is over?
SG: Doesn't matter to me as long as we keep beating Seawolves. I'd rather brag than hear it from Lyons and Farmer at Tavern after the games. Everyone's been playing great so if we continue to skate hard and make smart plays we will be fine. I'm usually the worst with being lazy so maybe I'll try to not do that.
KK: Finally, What’s your 3-top favorite Morristown Bars?
SG: Although I have a lot of fun at tavern with the boys, I'll go with: laundromat, laundromat, and laundromat because girls will say hi to me for some reason and then I go back to the Tavern and try to hook up with the guys.

INTERVIEW WITH KREATURES FORWARD #44 MIKE GAUTHIER
During this “Virus Break” we were able to catch up with #44 Mike G. at his safehouse on Heimaey Island.
Kreatures Khronicle: Mike, you met Goalie R Psuty when you played with him on the Valkyries, then you followed him to Iron Fist, now with the Kreatures. Why did you decide to go with the Kreatures instead of staying with the Iron Fist?
MG: I was lucky enough to meet Psuty early on in my career. And although I like playing for both Iron Fist and The Kreatures, this season I decided to stay full time with the Kreatures knowing we’d be going up against even tougher competition with our divisions being combined. We were coming off a summer season with a championship in our back pocket. I couldn’t go out there and compete for a lesser title knowing the Kreatures would be facing even tougher teams. All for the glory
KK: The Kreatures started out just as a summer team, and the original team did okay, but didn’t win the Championship. Next Summer came around and the team only had one lost and won the Championship, what do you think was the reason for the success compared to last summer?
MG: We played a fantastic season that year. The credit goes to everyone in that locker room. We really came together. I recall some games where we fought back from a deficit to earn a win, there was no quit in that group.
KK: Fall season, the Kreatures decided to go fulltime, had to add some new players to the roster. Didn’t start out that great, but was able to end up in second place in the finals. Do you recall why you guys started to do better towards the end of the season.
MG: You never know how the season is going to develop, especially with a fairly new team like ours. It’s a group that hasn’t been playing very many seasons together
So you kinda have to put that time in and develop that chemistry. 2nd place isn’t where we wanted to finish but proud to be there nevertheless.
KK: Now with the winter season is here, the league has changed dramatically with D3/D4 being in the division. Some players have been saying if the top 3 teams weren’t in the Division than the rest of the teams would be on a more even playing field. Would you agree to that or not?
MG: It’s hard to say where the other teams would stand, I don’t want to speak for them. But for us I think we enjoy the tougher competition. We’re coming off a pair of seasons where we had some success, one season saw us win the championship, so i think coming in and playing against tougher competition can only make us better, despite what our record may show
KK: Lastly, the Kreatures had a rough start this season, but do you think you guys can turn it around like to did in the fall season?
MG: While I agree we didn’t start the season the way we wanted to, we’ve already started to play better together, and as a result we’re sitting inside a playoff spot. Just taking it one game at a time right now.
KK: Thanks for taking the time out from your non-busy schedule. And let’s hope this virus ends soon so we can see the Kreatures continue their winning spree.

Winter Season On Hold
GAME TEN: KREATURES VS POWERHOUSE
In the first period, Powerhouse played strongly against the Kreatures and even managed to score the first goal. Then Sub Charlie F, brought the puck up and threw the puck across the crease to an awaiting #44 Mike G who tapped the puck into the net. Before the period ended, Powerhouse was able to sneak in another goal. The First period ends with Powerhouse up, 2-1.
Midway through the second period, the Kreatures came alive and took control of the game. Sub Charlie F scored with the help from #37 Brian C, and then less than a minute later, #28 S Gibbs beat the Powerhouse goalie five hole. Powerhouse was able to score another goal. But Luckily Sub Charlie F was able to score another goal for the Kreatures. This time the period ended with the Kreatures up 4-3.
The 3rd period started with #44 Mike G on a breakaway, but Tyler, the Powerhouse Goalie was able to make the save, Tyler than tried to pass the puck to his dman, but #44 Mike G was able to intercept the pass and he was able to shove the puck into the net. Powerhouse came back with another goal and did their best to even up the score. But #9 David D would have none of that, as he stole the puck off one of the opposing players and skated the puck towards the Powerhouse net. Tyler had to make his biggest save of the game, as the puck rebounded into the corner, but #9 David D was able to get to the puck first and threw it towards the net. No one had time to react, except #44 Mike G who stuck his stick out just in time to redirect the puck into the net. Then with less than three minutes left of the period, #37 Brian C shot the puck, the missed shot was picked up by #19 Tim S who skated behind the net and banked the puck off a Powerhouse Defenseman and landed in the back of the net. The Kreatures were now up, 7–4. With a minute and change left to the period, Powerhouse pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, from here they were able to score 2 goals in 30 seconds. But it didn’t matter, because the Kreatures were able to hold them off for the remainder of the period. Kreatures won 2 in a row, this one ended close with the score of 7-6.

Luckily, two minutes later Sub #37 Brian C was able to get control of the puck and ripped it over the goalie’s shoulder. As the period went on, Jamesway was able to sneak another goal in when a shot flew under Kreatures goalie, #31 Psuty glove. During the next shift, #37 Brian C was out on the rink again and this time when he had the puck, he moved it over to #9 David D who was not a stranger in the scoring dept. The Kreatures tied the game with David’s goal and the period ended to the score of 2 – 2.
During the second period, once again Jamesway would start off with scoring first. But that was okay, cause #44 Mike G was able to pick up the puck flipped it over the goalie and into the net. Then Later in the period, Sub Bobby M would get a breakaway chance, and although the goalie make an incredible save, the rebound found its way onto #44 Mike G’s stick and he roofed one over the grounded goalie. The period would end with the Kreatures being up a goal 4 - 3
In the third period, Jamesway, started to play a lot harder and more aggressive, as they tried to their best to even up the score. But the Kreatures stood their ground, blocking shots and clearing rebounds. There was even a three on three when #19 Tim S and #93 of Jamesway were called for rougher, although #19 Tim S did nothing wrong. But even with more room out on the rink, Jamesway still couldn’t find a way to score. Then they pulled their goalie, but this only helped the Kreatures, when #44 Mike G got the puck and threw it into the empty net, giving him his 3rd goal of the game. Kreatures would win 5 - 3

In the first period, the Kreatures controlled the puck well, but it was Jamesway, (not to be confused with JamesMay) who would get the first goal. But 20 seconds later, #44 Mike G would score his 7th goal of the season. But then would get called for elbowing. The Kreatures would score again with four minutes left in the period, when #9 David D would pick up a rebound shot by #44 Mike G. A minute later, James way scored again to make to even up the game. 2 – 2.
During the second period, we saw some roughing minors from both teams, but nothing in the scoring department. This period would end with the score being the same as the 1st. 2 - 2.
In the 3rd period, both teams came out hungry and both teams had plenty of chances, but it would be Jamesway that would slip the puck in and score late in the period. GAME SIX: KREATURES Vs SEAWOLVES
Midseason is here; and the Kreatures are desperately looking to get back into the win column after a disappointing defeat at the hands of Doomsday the night before. With many Kreature players missing for this game, they were promptly able to fill out the roster with several fresh faces in a way to bring the Kreatures back from certain death. And tonight, they were about to do just that, as they prepare to play against their rival, the Seawolves.
The first period started with lots of chances going both ways. The Kreatures and Seawolves netminders both made high quality saves while the two teams battled for control. Midway through the first period, Kreatures forward #19 Tim S., looking to pass to his linemate on a 2 on 1, was able to get to the puck, which had ricochet off the Seawolves goalie, and into the net. Minutes later, the Kreatures defense would manage to force a turnover and provide forward Sub Ryan Spirito an opportunity to take the puck down the left wing and blast a shot past the Seawolves goalie. The Seawolves responded immediately with a goal of their own, and the first period would finish 2-1.
During the second period, the Kreatures turned into wolves of their own, much like a pack of Werewolves during a full moon, as they dominated the play for the majority of the second. This also included a goal, when Forward Sub Bobby M fed his linemate #44 Mike G., who buried the puck to give the Kreatures a 3-1 lead. The Seawolves weren't done though, as they would go on the powerplay, when #21 M Porta was called for Tripping. With little time left in the period, they were able to score a power play goal. The second period would come to a close with the Kreatures leading 3-2.
In the third period, the Kreatures wouldn’t just sit in a morbid gloom with only having a one goal lead. No, No. They were more than eager to push the Seawolves off their wooden plank, and the Kreatures did just that. Scoring two quick goals from Sub Bobby M and #21 M Porta. Then the Seawolves tried hard to get on the scoreboard, but despite John Lyons best efforts to bring his team back from the dead, including drawing a power play, when Sub Ryan S got called for hooking. Lyons was able to get only an assist on that power play goal. The game finally came to an end, and the Kreatures crawled back into their locked crypt victorious. On this night, it proved that Silver Bullets can also work on Seawolves. The Kreatures would win their second game against the Seawolves this season, by a score of 5-3.

1. #19 Tim S, Assisted by #11 Jay W.
2. Sub Ryan Spirit, Assisted by #19 Tim S.
3. #44 Mike G, Assisted by Sub Bobby M
4. Sub Bobby M, Assisted by #28 S. Gibbs and #21 M Porta
5. #21 M Porta, Assisted by #44 Mike G. and Sub Bobby M.
Penalties:
#21 M Porta - 2 Min - Tripping
Sub Ryan Spirito - 2Min - Hooking
#79 Kenny G. was quoted after the game: “It was a harrowing task, but we came out victorious.“

GAME FIVE: KREATURES VS DOOMSGAY
In the first period, Doomsday came out strong against the Kreatures and even scored three goals along the way. The Kreatures had chances on 2 power plays, but the Pe**er the Doomsday Goalie shut them out. The first period would end with the Kreatures down 3-0.
During the second period, the Kreatures would finally get on the board with an unassisted goal by #44 Mike G. From here both teams would go back to back in scoring. Doomsday would score 2 minutes later, and then 2 minutes after that #13 Dave C would get his first goal of the game when he scored short side. But, each time the Kreatures thought they were catching up, Doomsday would score again. With only 6 seconds left of the period #28 S Gibbs would score a rebound goal that hopped into the back of the net. The second period ended with the Kreatures down 5-3
The 3rd period started with Doomsday scoring two more goals, including a short-handed breakaway. The Kreatures got a break when #37 Brian C score on the PowerPlay and a minute later #44 Mike G would score his second goal of the game. GAME FOUR: KREATURES VS SEAWOLVES
In the first period, both teams played strong and threw plenty shots on net. But the goalies were up to the task, including backup goalie Travis L. Who stopped both Former Kreature players, Matt Farmer & John Lyons. Including a penalty kill, when #19 Tim Schuster got called for Tripping. With #79 Kenny G out with a broken finger the Kreatures wondered who would score their first goal. The first period ended 0-0.
During the second period, the Kreatures defense came alive, and it was #28 S Gibbs who would get the first goal. When he took the puck from one end of the rink to the other and scored while the puck was on edge and roofed it over the Seawolves’ goalie. Then minutes later, #19 Tim Schuster set up #21 M Porta for a skillful placed shot and suddenly the Seawolves found themselves down 2-0. But that only fueled the Seawolves into overdrive and caused the Kreatures to start taking penalties including 2-minute penalties, both from #13 Dave Celenza and #9 David Dubman. This help the Seawolves tie the game up and then they scored their third goal, when #44 John Lyons scored an extremely questionable goal when he batted the puck out of midair. The second period ended with the Seawolves up 3-2.
The 3rd period started with the Seawovles scoring a goal early in the period, this made the Kreatures angry, as they knew that they needed to get back into the game and quick. The Kreatures then started outshooting the Seawolves, but no mattered what they tried the Seawovles goalie was up for the big saves and was stopping everything. But finally, there was a light at the end of the grave, when #28 S Gibbs shot the puck and the rebound came right onto #44 Mike G stick who cleaned up the garage in front and put the puck in the net. As the period came closer to the end the Kreatures called a timeout and took a needed breath. They were only down by one goal and they needed to take back controlled, and they did just that. Once the puck was dropped #44 Mike G grabbed it and raced towards the goalie, although his shot was blocked. This allowed #9 David Dubman to get to the rebound which bounced behind the net, and he was able to sneak around to the other side and fooled the goalie with a turnaround shot. With that game was now tied, and the Seawolves started to put even more pressure on the Kreatures backup goalie, but Travis L stood his ground and would continue to do so until the end. As the time wind down, it looked as if this game was going to go to OT, but the Kreatures had another idea. With a quickened step, #28 S Gibbs picked up a dumped puck and passed it over to #37 Brian C, who skated hard towards the net, he soon realized he was on a 2 on 1 and at the last second, he passed the puck over to his open line mate, #19 Tim S, who shot the one-timer and scored glove side. The buzzer rang, and the fan(s) cheered, as the Kreatures won their first game of the season to the score of 5-4.
