Many ask what my secret is being I'm in my late 40's?
One, hardly ever sitting down and chasing my very busy kid around and my dogs. Two, I try to eat well, such as I eat very little dairy and I avoid processed foods, but I'm not THAT strict about my diet. BUT, I do eat often! I believe in keeping the metabolism going.
I do Yoga twice a week, although I should do more - I'm my own instructor 😉, strength training once a week with , pilates once a week with , and, most importantly, dancing MANY times a week with and !
I also do acupuncture weekly with .
Lastly, I take lots of vitamins and supplements. Too many to name. But, if I only recommended a few to take daily: Probiotics, Colostrum, Zinc, and Vitamin C, and Chaste Tree [for hormone balance].

It's not often a dog takes over the Yoga Teachers mat, but I'm happy he's happy.
Seems once a teacher always a Doga Teacher. ❤️😄

Yoga Toe Squat. Looks simple, but ouch it can hurt! It's so great for dancers, hockey players, runners, ANYONE! It stretches your toes, knees, ankles, feet, quads.
Get on your knees. Tuck your toes under. Sit up tall. Shoulders back. Look forward. To go deepest in the pose, Sit back on your legs! Make sure you keep breathing. Hold as long as you can.

One of the things I hear the most, when someone learns I teach Yoga, is that they could never do Yoga because they're not flexible. That's exactly WHY you should do Yoga!
I was never naturally flexible. I got into Yoga because a snowboarding instructor told boarding would be easier if I was flexible. I was so determined to learn to snowboard that I got the courage to walk into a Yoga class. I totally sucked at Yoga at the beginning, but "no one starts off being excellent". Additionally, there is no being good or bad at Yoga; You do what your body allows.

Fellow dancers, well really ANYONE, if your shoulders are tight, do a Dolphin Pose against the wall. You can do it anywhere, anytime! As always, be sure you're listening to your breath. When you truly listen to your breathing, you know you're not holding your breath, AND you'll go deeper into the pose. Dolphin Pose can be intense for those with tight shoulders, but practicing regularly, it will get easier.
Simply put your forearms on the wall, and step back. Feet are hip-width apart or more. Adjust yourself to what feels better. Let yourself SINK into the pose.

You can do Yoga anywhere and any length of time, even just a couple minutes will help release tension and stress and stretch your spine. Here is an example of a Wide-Stance Forward Bend and Standing Twists. Did you know you should stretch your spine in 6 directions daily to keep your spine healthy?

My two favorite Yoga Poses for tight legs, Downward Facing Dog and Intense Side Stretch.
Tight legs can cause other issues, such as pain in your back or knees.
Both poses may be challenging at first. Some modifications: Bend your knees in Downdog and/or put blocks under your hands. In Intense Side Stretch, bend your front knee, and/or use blocks or hold your ankle.
Yoga is for everyone! Find the variations to poses that work for you!

There are variations to almost every Yoga Pose. Find what variation works for you during your practice.
Plow Pose (or Halasana) is the Pose that my body and mind have needed recently.
This Pose is traditionally practiced towards the end of your yoga sequence because it helps calm the mind. Plow Pose also relieves backache, lengthens the spine, and stretches the shoulders.
