National Golf Month Fact #4:

In 1971, during the Apollo 14 mission, astronaut Alan Shepard hit not one, but two golf balls on the Moon!

He brought along a 6-iron head and attached it to a tool handle to create his own golf club.

National Golf Month Fact #3:

Golf balls have come a long way! They started with wooden balls, followed by leather “Featheries” stuffed tightly with goose feathers. Then came “Gutties,” made from a rubber-like material—and golfers actually discovered that the more nicked and scuffed they became, the farther they flew!

That discovery eventually helped lead to the dimples we see on modern golf balls today.
