You Are More Than Just a Number Here.

At HiYa! Karate, our students aren’t just names on a roster or another belt in the room. They matter to us.

We celebrate the victories, the new belts, the first successful board break, and the moments when everything finally clicks. But we also see the struggles - the frustration, the nerves, the tough classes, the moments when they doubt themselves, and the times they want to give up.

And we care about all of it.

We take our students’ successes personally. Their struggles personally. Their growth personally. Because when you become part of the HiYa! family, you become our student not just another number.

Sometimes the biggest accomplishment isn’t the belt around their waist. It’s the confidence they’ve built, the obstacles they’ve overcome, and the person they’re becoming along the way.

And sometimes, after all the hard work, there’s nothing left to say except… I’m proud of you.

We don’t just teach karate. We invest in people.

BOARD BREAKING IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN BREAKING A BOARD!

At HiYa! Karate, board breaking is one of the most exciting parts of training but it’s also an important tool for developing skills that go far beyond the dojo.

🧠 Builds Confidence – There’s something powerful about setting a goal, committing to it, and hearing that CRACK! When students break a board, they learn, “I CAN DO HARD THINGS!”

🎯 Teaches Focus & Precision – Board breaking requires students to focus on their technique, their target, and their commitment.

💪 Develops Power & Technique – Students learn that simply hitting harder isn’t the answer. Proper form, speed, accuracy, and technique make the difference.

😤 Teaches Perseverance – Not every board breaks on the first attempt. Students learn to regroup, adjust, and try again instead of giving up.

❤️ Creates Courage – Stepping up to a board and committing to the technique takes courage, especially when a student isn’t sure they can do it.

🏆 Celebrates Progress – Every broken board represents effort, practice, and growth.

The lesson isn’t really about the board.

It’s about learning to face something that seems difficult, believe in yourself, and keep going until you break through.

And that’s a lesson our students can carry with them far beyond the dojo.

🚨Cobra Class Update – Starting Tuesday, September 8th🚨

Starting Tuesday, September 8th, all Cobras should return to their regular Cobra classes.

Even if your Cobra is 11 years old and/or a higher belt, please have them attend the Cobra classes listed below for now.

Ms. Emily will be using the Leopard classes specifically for students who will be testing for their black belt next. She is currently reviewing the Poom belts we have and determining when our next Black Belt Test will take place.

Please be patient with her as she works through this! Once she has everything finalized, she will send individual emails to the students who are being invited to the Leopard class.

Thank you for your understanding and patience! Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Emily with any questions.

There is a power line down at the intersection of South Main and Ridgeville Blvd. You can get into the parking lot but there are some road closures. The parking lot is also very congested because people are using it as a cut through.

You might want to leave some extra time to get here if you can, but don't worry about being late.

Karate Builds More Than Strong Bodies. It Builds Strong Minds.

Karate teaches kids to kick, punch, block and move - but some of the most important skills happen inside their heads.

Every class is another chance to strengthen the mind, build character, and develop skills that extend far beyond the dojo.

Strong mind. Strong body. Strong character.
