With the help of a lot of neighbors and the use of a pontoon, we were able to rescue this hawk trapped in a fishing line about 50’ up in the trees today. Thanks to Alec and the vet tech who handled the bird!

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our marina has faced unprecedented challenges. The storm brought severe flooding, causing extensive damage throughout the property. This Saturday, October 5th, from 10 AM to 2 PM, we are organizing a Marina Cleanup Day to begin addressing the aftermath and we could use your help. The tasks at hand include removing debris such as limbs and sticks, removing mud from walkways and pressure washing them, replacing mulch, and adding gravel under the ship store.

The Catawba Riverkeeper's Riversweep that had been scheduled for Saturday has been canceled, allowing us to focus all our efforts on the marina.

We've been truly moved by the community's support and many of you have asked how you can help. To coordinate our efforts, please sign up via the Google Form linked below, where you can also volunteer to help, to bring materials and/or help with food and beverages for the volunteers.

Your support means everything to us during this difficult time. Together, we can restore Tailrace Marina and continue to build a community that stands strong against adversity.

Additionally, I must stress the severity of the damage including the complete washaway of Docks F and G. The remaining docks have also suffered significant damage and are currently too dangerous to access. We are working hard to repair the docks as soon as possible, but for now, we must insist that everyone refrain from walking on any of the docks for your safety and the safety of others.
