May is National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s a great reminder that sunscreen isn’t just for beach days—it’s an everyday essential. Even on cloudy days, UV rays are still at work.

A simple daily habit = long-term skin health. Make SPF part of your morning routine, just like brushing your teeth or rolling out your mat 💛

Technique Tuesday: Upward Facing Dog ✨🐾

Upward Facing Dog is one of the foundational postures we use throughout classes at CPY and one of the poses we see students rush through most often. The magic is in the setup. 💚

Building blocks for a strong, supported Up Dog:

✔ From chaturanga, draw your body forward by pressing firmly through your palms and rolling over your toes
✔ Stack your shoulders over your wrists and straighten your arms
✔ Press into the tops of your feet and lift your thighs off the mat
✔ Pull your shoulders back and press your chest forward without crunching your neck
✔ Keep your core and legs engaged to support your low back

Don’t rush the pose — move through it with intention and focus on creating strength, space, and stability ✨

Technique Tuesday: Bridge Pose 🌉

Bridge may look simple, but the magic is in your alignment. Think grounding through all four corners of your feet, keeping your knees tracking straight ahead, and lifting from your glutes + hamstrings instead of dumping into your low back.

A few things to focus on:
• Feet hip-width distance apart and directly under your knees
• Arms by your side and upper back pressed into your mat
• Lift your hips while lifting the front of your pelvis up and tucking your tailbone under

Bridge is a powerful pose for building strength, opening the front body, and creating stability for deeper backbends. Slow and controlled > highest lift possible every time.
