Long post! Final chapter. What a way to end! We outscored our opponents 36-1 today. This was our last tournament together. I can’t say how much these boys have meant to me. Great families as well. I did not have a single negative interaction with a single parent EVER (that is almost unheard of in this setting) I maybe had to tell a parent or two to not be so hard on their own kid 😉. I began coaching a Longhorn team over 7 years ago and it is definitely bittersweet to see it all end. This group has put in a ton of work and they are all ready for their next step in high school and wherever they decide to play next. They actually taught me a lot with regards to patience (very unique set of personalities to say the least) and I think they even got a better version of me/coach than my first group. I learned to coach when necessary, but to also get out of their way at times to learn and feel the game. That was what was best for this group! I told them in my final speech tonight that winning DOES matter if you do it right. We always tried our best to treat the game with respect and do it right. To compete and want to always win is a great life skill. Understanding that the work is what provides the “wins” in life. Understanding how to learn from and accept defeat and work to not repeat it is also a priceless learning lesson. I’m not huge on stats, but these are pretty amazing now that I reflect on what Coach Eric Grim has shared. Over the last 3 seasons their record was 86-35-3. They won 8 tournaments and were runner up 8 times; that is pretty darn close to half of our tournaments. I could go on and on, but all I can say is I am proud to have been afforded the opportunity to be around this group of young men. -Coach Dudley

This group grinds and never quits. Won another one. Played with 9 all weekend.

Happy 4th!
Always hustling and grinding. Thinking about lineups, practices, schedules, etc. Sometimes important to take it all in and just appreciate the opportunities all of the boys are having, plus the parents providing and enjoying alongside!
